This here be talkin’ about that Jacob Reyes fella. Now, I don’t know him too well, but I hear things around. People talk, you know. They say this Jacob, he’s a young’un, full of beans.

First off, some folks say he’s good at makin’ a mess. Not a bad mess, mind you. They call it “Recipes for Disaster”. Sounds like a right hoot, don’t it? Maybe he’s a cook, or maybe he’s just good at stirrin’ things up. Who knows with these young folks.
Then there’s this here thing, they call it Face… something. Book-Face? Face-Book? I don’t rightly know. All the young people are on it. They say you can find anyone on that there thing, even this Jacob Reyes. If you know him, you can be friends with him on there. My grandbaby, she’s on it all the time. Showed me once, but I got no use for it. Too many buttons. I prefer a good old chat over the fence.
- He’s got lots of folks followin’ him. Some got 378, others have 426. Another one even has 145.
- He follows more folks than follow him!
- That Book-Face thing is where people connect. Or so they say.
This Jacob, he’s studyin’ somethin’ fancy. Something about flyin’ machines up in the sky. Air-o-space, or somethin’ like that. Sounds mighty complicated to me. We got planes flyin’ over the farm all the time, but I ain’t never thought about how they work. Guess this Jacob fella does. He must be a smart one, that’s for sure.
They got these “projects” at that school. They say Jacob Reyes does them. School projects and personal projects. What’s the difference, I wonder? Maybe one’s for school and the other ain’t. Kids these days, always busy with somethin’.
Now, I see some folks, they got numbers next to their names. One got 378, another got 426, then there is a smaller number with 145. I reckon that’s how many folks they know on that Face thing. Or maybe it’s somethin’ else. I ain’t too sure. This Jacob, he seems to know a lot of people.

To get on this Face…thing, you gotta “Log In,” they say. And if you forget somethin’, they got a button for that too. “Forgot,” it says. Seems like they thought of everything. I reckon it’s useful if you’re forgetful like old Mrs. Higgins down the road. She can’t remember where she puts her teeth half the time.
This whole thing, it’s about connectin’ with people. That’s what they say, anyway. Makin’ the world more open and connected. Sounds nice, I guess. But I still think a good chat over the fence is better than any old computer. You can’t share a slice of pie through a screen, can you?
So, this Jacob Reyes, he’s a busy bee. Makin’ disasters, studyin’ flyin’ machines, doin’ projects, and connectin’ with folks on that Face thing. He must be one of them new generation young’uns. They’re always up to somethin’.
I reckon that’s all I know about this Jacob Reyes. Heard a bit here and there, pieced it together. Maybe he’s a good egg, maybe he ain’t. Hard to tell from just hearin’ things. But one thing’s for sure, he’s keepin’ busy. And that’s somethin’, ain’t it?
This world’s changin’ faster than a greased piglet at the county fair. Hard to keep up sometimes. But I guess that’s just the way it is. These young folks, they’re the future. And this Jacob Reyes, he’s part of it.

Well, I best be gettin’ back to my chores. Chickens need feedin’, and the garden ain’t gonna weed itself. You young folks have a good day now, ya hear? And if you see that Jacob Reyes on that Face thing, tell him an old lady from the country was askin’ about him.
That’s all there is about that Jacob boy. People like him, they are all over that Face-place. I don’t know what they are doing there, chatting, looking at pictures of cats. Who knows what they do on there? It is a mystery to me! They are always on their phones looking at that Face-thing.
I still don’t know exactly what that Jacob did to be in the news but people are talking about him all the time. They seem to like him a lot. Well, that is what I heard from the neighbor’s girl when she was visiting her granny, who lives next door. That girl is also always on the phone. I think she also uses that Face-place thing a lot.
That Jacob must be a good boy, people seem to like him, maybe I will also look him up on that Face-thingy when my granddaughter comes to visit, she can show me how to use it. I hope it is not too hard to learn.
