Well, let me tell ya, this “aa four horsemen” thing ain’t somethin’ fancy. It’s just plain talk about what happens when you drink too much, you know? Like, way too much. Not like havin’ a little somethin’ with supper, but when you can’t stop, and it messes up your whole life.
What are these “horsemen” anyway? They ain’t real horses, that’s for sure. It’s just a way of sayin’ how bad things get. AA, that’s Alcoholics Anonymous, they talk about ’em. They say it’s terror, bewilderment, frustration, and despair. Sounds scary, right? Well, it is.
- Terror: That’s when you’re scared all the time. Scared of what you done, scared of what you gonna do, scared of everything. Your hands shake, you sweat, you can’t sleep. It’s like a bad dream you can’t wake up from. You’re always lookin’ over your shoulder, even when there ain’t nobody there.
- Bewilderment: This one’s like bein’ lost in the woods. You don’t know which way to go, what to do. Your head’s all muddled up. You can’t think straight. You try to make sense of things, but it’s like tryin’ to catch smoke.
- Frustration: Ever try to fix somethin’ and it just keeps breakin’? That’s frustration. You want to stop drinkin’, but you can’t. You try and try, but it’s like somethin’s pullin’ you back. You get mad at yourself, mad at the world, mad at everything. You just want to scream.
- Despair: This is the worst one. It’s when you give up. You don’t care no more. You think nothin’s ever gonna get better. It’s like bein’ stuck in a deep, dark hole and you can’t see no way out. You just want it all to end.
These things, they don’t just show up all of a sudden. They creep up on ya, like weeds in a garden. First, maybe you just drink a little too much sometimes. Then it’s more and more, until you can’t go without it. And then, boom! The horsemen arrive.
Some folks, they try to hide it. They go to sordid places, you know, bars and such. Places where nobody knows ’em, where they can drink in peace. But it don’t bring no peace, not really. It just makes things worse. They think they’re findin’ somethin’ there, maybe forgettin’ their troubles for a bit. But all they find is more trouble.
I’ve seen it happen, plenty of times. Good people, goin’ bad. Families breakin’ up, jobs lost, lives ruined. All because of that bottle. It’s a sad thing to see. It ain’t somethin’ you’d wish on your worst enemy.
Now, AA, they say there’s a way out. They got these twelve steps, and they help folks stop drinkin’. It ain’t easy, but it can be done. I know some folks who’ve done it. They was down in the dirt, but they pulled themselves up. It takes a lot of work, a lot of courage, but it’s worth it.
The thing is, you gotta want it. You gotta be tired of the terror, the bewilderment, the frustration, and the despair. You gotta be ready to change. And you gotta ask for help. There ain’t no shame in that. We all need help sometimes.
So, if you’re strugglin’ with drinkin’, don’t give up. There’s hope. There’s people who care. And there’s a way out of that darkness. Just reach out, and someone will be there to grab your hand. It ain’t easy, but it’s a whole lot better than livin’ with those four horsemen chasin’ you all the time.
Remember, it’s never too late to turn things around. You ain’t alone, and there’s folks who understand what you’re goin’ through. Just take that first step, and keep on walkin’. One day at a time, that’s all it takes.
And those horsemen, well, they might stick around for a while, but they won’t have the same power over you no more. You’ll be stronger, you’ll be wiser, and you’ll be free.
So, that’s the story of the “aa four horsemen,” as best as I can tell it. It ain’t pretty, but it’s the truth. And sometimes, the truth is what we need to hear, even if it ain’t easy.
