Alright, so I decided to go for the undercut look. I’d seen it on a few guys, and it looked pretty sharp, so I thought, “Why not?” First off, I did a bit of looking around online, just to get a feel for what I was getting myself into. There are tons of different undercut styles, it’s kind of wild.

I started by thinking about my face. Yeah, sounds weird, but it matters. My forehead’s not huge, but it’s not tiny either, and my hairline’s alright. Apparently, if you’ve got a big forehead or a weird hairline, this might not be the best style, but I figured I was good to go.
Next, I went to the barber. Not just any barber, but the one my buddy recommended. I showed him a picture of what I wanted, and we chatted about it for a bit. He suggested a few tweaks, based on my hair type and face shape, which was cool. He seemed to know his stuff.
Then came the actual haircut. He started by buzzing the sides and back. It felt a bit weird at first, having all that hair gone, but it was also kind of refreshing. He used clippers, and it was all pretty quick. After that, he trimmed the top, leaving it longer like I wanted. He also added some texture, which made it look a lot better.
- The sides and back are short, like, really short.
- The top is longer, so I can style it in different ways.
- It’s got this cool, textured look that I’m really digging.
Styling it is a whole other thing. I’ve been playing around with different products. When my hair’s damp, I put in a bit of product, and then I either brush it up for volume or slick it back. The brushed-up look is my favorite so far, it looks pretty awesome when I blow-dry it.
Maintaining it is also important. If I ever want to grow it out, I’ll have to let the sides grow and blend them in with the top. I saw a tip online about moving your part to cover the short area, which seems like it might work. I am happy that I tried it.

The Result
Honestly, I’m pretty stoked with how it turned out. It’s a big change, but it’s cool. It feels fresh and modern, and it’s fun to style. If you’re thinking about getting an undercut, I’d say go for it, but definitely think about your face shape and maybe talk to a good barber first. It’s a bold look, but it’s totally worth it. I recommend it!
