Alright, alright, lemme tell ya ’bout this “super straight” thing, you know? Heard folks jabberin’ about it, so I figured I’d put in my two cents, even if it ain’t worth much.
What’s This “Super Straight” All About, Anyways?
Now, from what I gather, this “super straight” thing started up on them internet gizmos, places like TikTok and that Reddit thingamajig. Some young fella, name o’ Kyle Royce, he started it all, back in February of ’21, they say. Seems like yesterday, but time flies like a bat outta heck.
This Kyle fella, he says he’s only into women, born women, that is. Not men who say they’re women, just plain ol’ gals. And he called that bein’ “super straight.” Said it wasn’t nothin’ against them trans folks, just his preference, like likin’ apple pie over cherry.
- He says he’s not hatin’ nobody.
- Just sayin’ who he likes.
- And that’s all there is to it, he claims.
Folks Got All Worked Up Over It, Though
But, wouldn’t ya know it, folks got their knickers in a twist over this “super straight” talk. Some folks, they said it was just hateful, plain and simple. Said it was like sayin’ you don’t like folks ’cause of their skin color or somethin’. Said it was a way to hide bein’ prejudiced, you know, like sneakin’ a skunk into the henhouse.
Others, they said it was just a silly meme, a joke that got outta hand. Like that time my nephew put soap in the waterin’ can – just young folks doin’ foolish things. They said it wasn’t meant to hurt nobody, just a way for some folks to feel special or somethin’.
Now, I Ain’t No Expert, But…
Me, I ain’t no fancy pants expert on these things. I’m just an old gal who’s seen a thing or two. And from where I’m standin’, it seems like folks just like who they like. Always been that way, far as I can tell.
You got fellas who like gals, gals who like fellas, and some who like both, or neither. And that’s their business, I reckon. Long as they ain’t hurtin’ nobody, it ain’t none of my concern. Live and let live, that’s what I always say.
But this “super straight” thing, well, it got folks talkin’ ’bout who’s in and who’s out, who’s normal and who ain’t. And that ain’t right, in my book. We’re all just folks tryin’ to get by, ain’t we? No need to be drawin’ lines in the sand and makin’ enemies outta neighbors.
This “Super Straight” Thing and Them Trans Folks
Now, some folks say this “super straight” thing is aimed at them transgender folks. You know, the ones who feel like they was born in the wrong body. And I gotta say, that don’t sit right with me.
I reckon it takes a heap o’ courage to be yourself, especially when folks are tryin’ to tell ya you can’t. And if someone wants to change their body to match how they feel inside, well, that’s their choice, far as I’m concerned. It ain’t hurtin’ me none.
This “super straight” talk, it kinda sounds like they’re sayin’ them trans folks ain’t real women, or real men. And that just ain’t true. A person’s a person, no matter what they look like or how they identify. That’s what my grandma always told me, and she was a wise woman.
So, What’s the Bottom Line?
So, this “super straight” thing… I reckon it’s just another way folks try to divide themselves up. Us versus them, this way versus that way. Seems like folks always need someone to look down on, to make themselves feel better. Like them city folks who come out here and think they’re better than us country folk.
But the truth is, we’re all just people. We all got our own likes and dislikes, our own ways of seein’ the world. And we all deserve to be treated with respect, no matter who we are or who we love.
So, whether you think this “super straight” thing is a big deal or just a bunch of hooey, I reckon it’s important to remember to be kind to each other. We’re all in this together, after all. And kindness, well, that goes a long way, like a good rain after a dry spell.
And that’s all I gotta say ’bout that. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my chickens. They’re probably gettin’ into mischief, the little rascals.
