Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this fella, Ben Shap-whatever his name is. He’s got a whole lotta opinions on who should marry who, and let me tell you, it ain’t simple.
This Ben guy, he don’t like gay marriage. Says it ain’t right, shouldn’t be legal. Now, I ain’t no fancy lawyer or nothin’, but from what I gather, he thinks marriage is somethin’ special between a man and a woman, and that’s that. He’s been sayin’ this for a long time, ain’t changed his mind none.
He goes on TV and radio, talkin’ all proper and usin’ big words, but what it boils down to is he wants them judges, the Supreme Court folks, to undo that decision they made a few years back. You know, the one that said gay folks could get hitched just like anyone else. He thinks them judges messed up, and he wants it fixed.
- He calls himself a “conservative,” whatever that means.
- Seems like he wants things to go back to the way they used to be.
- But times are changin’, ain’t they? Folks are different now.
Now, some folks agree with this Ben fella. They think he’s speakin’ truth and standin’ up for what’s right. They nod their heads and say, “Yep, marriage is between a man and a woman, that’s how it’s always been, that’s how it should be.” They get all riled up about it, talkin’ about morals and values and all that.
But then there’s other folks, lots of ’em, who think this Ben guy is plain wrong. They say love is love, and it don’t matter if you’re a man lovin’ a woman or a woman lovin’ a woman or whatever. They say everyone should have the right to marry who they want, and it ain’t nobody else’s business. They say this Ben fella is stuck in the past, and he needs to get with the times.
He even went so far as to say that politicians who vote to protect gay marriage, well, they ain’t real Republicans. Imagine that! Kickin’ folks out of their own party just ’cause they think different. Seems mighty harsh to me.
This Ben, he’s a smart fella, I guess. Went to school and got all them fancy degrees. He writes for newspapers and talks on the radio, tellin’ everyone what he thinks. He’s got a big audience, lots of folks listenin’ to him. But just because he’s smart and got a big mouth don’t mean he’s right, now does it?
I seen a lot of things change in my time. Things that folks said would never happen, happened. And things that folks said were always gonna be this way, changed. That’s just the way life is. It keeps movin’ and changin’, whether we like it or not.
And this whole thing about gay marriage, well, it’s just another one of them changes. Some folks are for it, some folks are against it. But at the end of the day, it’s about people tryin’ to live their lives and find happiness. And who am I, or this Ben fella, to tell them they can’t do that?
I heard some say that Ben Shapiro believes in “rights”, but then he don’t want certain folks to have the same rights as everyone else when it comes to marriage. Makes you scratch your head, don’t it? How can you say you believe in rights for all, but then turn around and say, “Well, not for you”?
I also heard some talk about laws, lots of ’em, all over the place, that are makin’ things hard for kids who are different. Transgender kids, they call ’em. And there’s folks sayin’ we need to fight against these laws. Sounds like a mess to me. But it seems like this Ben fella, he ain’t on the side of them kids or the folks fightin’ for ’em.
So, there you have it. This Ben Shapiro, he’s got his opinions, and he ain’t afraid to share ’em. He don’t like gay marriage, and he wants to make sure it stays that way. But there’s a whole lot of other folks who think different. And in the end, it’s up to all of us to decide what kind of world we want to live in. A world where love is love, or a world where some folks get to tell other folks who they can and can’t love. Me, I think love is the answer. Always has been, always will be.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ who’s right or who’s wrong. I’m just tellin’ you what I see and what I hear. And what I see and hear is a whole lotta fuss over who gets to say “I do.” And I reckon that fuss ain’t gonna die down anytime soon. But maybe, just maybe, if we all listened to each other a little more and judged each other a little less, we could find a way to get along, even if we don’t all agree.
