Well, I’ll be darned! Seems like some folks are all worked up about this “National Advocacy Grp for LGBTQ Issues” thing. I saw it in one of them crossword puzzles, you know, the kind that makes your head spin. My grandkid, they’re always fiddlin’ with them things.
So, this puzzle, it had this clue, somethin’ about a big group that sticks up for… well, for folks who ain’t exactly like me and the old man, if you catch my drift. LGBTQ, they call it. Don’t rightly know what all them letters mean, but it’s got somethin’ to do with who loves who, I reckon.
Now, I ain’t one to judge. Live and let live, that’s what I always say. But this puzzle thing, it got me thinkin’. There’s a whole heap of words and letters mixed up in all this. My grandkid told me some of it. Like, LGBTQ2S+, that’s a mouthful, ain’t it? It’s like they got a whole alphabet for themselves! Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual… and then there’s a “plus” sign, like they ain’t done addin’ letters yet!
Seems like some folks just can’t stick to bein’ a man or a woman, like in the good ol’ days. But times change, I guess. My grandkid says it ain’t that simple, that some folks are born feelin’ different. And this group, this “National Advocacy” somethin’-or-other, they fight for them folks to be treated fair and square.
- They got this word, PFLAG, poppin’ up in them puzzles too. My grandkid says that’s another group that helps out. Families and friends, standin’ together. That’s nice, I think. Family’s important, no matter what.
- And then there’s all these other words… Lesbian, that’s women lovin’ women. Gay, that’s men lovin’ men. Bisexual, that’s… well, I guess that’s lovin’ both, if I understand it right.
- And then there’s Transgender, folks who feel like they’re in the wrong body. And Queer, that’s just a general word, I think, for anyone who’s a bit different.
- And don’t forget Intersex, folks born… different down there, if you get my meanin’. And Asexual, folks who just ain’t interested in any of that lovin’ stuff at all.
It’s a whole new world, I tell ya. Back in my day, you was either a man or a woman, and that was that. But I guess it ain’t so simple anymore. And this group, they’re fightin’ for these folks’ rights, makin’ sure they get treated right. Good for them, I say. Everyone deserves a fair shake, no matter who they love or how they feel.
So, next time you see that “National Advocacy Grp for LGBTQ Issues” in a crossword puzzle, you’ll know what it’s all about. It’s about folks stickin’ up for folks, and that’s somethin’ I can understand, even if I don’t get all them fancy letters.
And that PFLAG group, they sound like good people too. Helpin’ out families and friends. That’s what we need more of in this world, I reckon. Less judgin’ and more lovin’, no matter who you are or who you love.
