Okay, so, I was scrolling through my phone the other day, and I came across this post about the first-date questions. It got me thinking, “Hey, I should really try this out!” I mean, first dates can be awkward, right? So, I figured, why not have a list of good questions ready to go?

First, I grabbed a notebook and jotted down all the questions I could think of. Stuff like “What are your hobbies?” and “What’s your favorite movie?” seemed pretty basic, but I wrote them down anyway. Then, I started to get a bit more creative. I added questions like “If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?” and “What’s something you’re really passionate about?” I even threw in a few quirky ones, just for fun.
Next, I decided to test these questions out. I had a first date lined up, so I memorized a few of the questions that I thought would be good conversation starters. I didn’t want to pull out my notebook during the date, obviously! That would be weird.
The date arrived, and I was a bit nervous, but I kept those questions in the back of my mind. We started with the usual small talk, but then I casually dropped in one of my questions: “So, what’s something you’re really passionate about?” It actually worked pretty well! She started talking about her love for painting, and we ended up having a really interesting conversation about art.
Throughout the date, I sprinkled in a few more questions. I asked about her dream travel destinations and her favorite books. Each question opened up a new topic, and I learned so much about her. It was way better than just sticking to the usual “What do you do for work?” kind of questions.
Here are some of the questions I used:
- What are you most passionate about?
- If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
- What’s your favorite book/movie/TV show, and why?
- What do you like to do for fun in your free time?
- What’s something you’re proud of accomplishing?
By the end of the date, I felt like I actually knew her a little bit. And you know what? We had a great time! We’re even planning a second date. So, I’d say my little experiment was a success. Having some good questions prepared really helped me navigate the first date, and it made the whole experience much more enjoyable. I definitely recommend trying this out if you’re going on a first date soon! You can have some fun while getting to know the other person!
