Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Mathew Staver fella. I heard some things, ya know, from here and there. Folks talkin’, and I’m just passin’ it on, the way I heard it.

Mathew Staver, who’s he anyway? Sounds like a fancy name, doesn’t it? Some kinda big shot, I reckon. They say he’s a lawyer, a big-time lawyer. Now, I ain’t never met no lawyer, but I seen ’em on TV. Always talkin’ fast and wearin’ them fancy suits. This Staver fella, he’s one of them, I guess.
But he ain’t just any lawyer, no sir. He’s also a pastor, they say. A preacher man. Now, that’s somethin’, ain’t it? A lawyer and a preacher. Seems like two different worlds to me, but what do I know? I’m just a simple woman, tryin’ to make sense of it all.
They say this Staver fella, he started somethin’ called Covenant Journey. Sounds important, right? Like somethin’ outta the Bible. I ain’t sure what it is exactly, but it has to do with religion, I figure. Maybe he takes folks on trips, like them tours you see advertised. But this one’s probably more serious, ya know? More about God and stuff.
And he’s got somethin’ else, Liberty Counsel. Sounds like he’s fightin’ for somethin’, for liberty. That’s a good thing, ain’t it? We all want to be free, right? But what kind of liberty is he fightin’ for? I heard him on the radio once, talkin’ ’bout faith and freedom. He’s got a radio show, can you believe it? Talkin’ to folks all over the place.
- He’s a lawyer.
- He’s a pastor.
- He started Covenant Journey.
- He founded Liberty Counsel.
- He’s got a radio program.
Now, some folks, they don’t like him. They say he’s too this or too that. Too religious, maybe. Too political. I don’t know nothin’ ’bout that. Politics is just a bunch of hot air, far as I can see. But he must be doin’ somethin’ right, ’cause he’s got a lot of folks listenin’ to him.
He talks about law and philosophy, whatever that means. Big words, them lawyers use. I guess it’s about thinkin’ deep thoughts, tryin’ to figure out what’s right and wrong. Like them philosophers they teach about in school. I never went to school much, but I heard tell of them.
And they even say he teaches somethin’ ’bout law at some fancy university, Liberty University, I think it’s called. Imagine that, a lawyer, a preacher, and a teacher, all rolled into one. He must be a smart fella. But smart ain’t everything, you know? You gotta have a good heart too. That’s what my mama always said.
I heard some stories ’bout this Staver fella bein’ involved in some big court cases, fightin’ for what he believes in. I guess that’s what lawyers do, right? They fight for their clients. And this Staver fella, he’s fightin’ for his beliefs too. That’s somethin’ I can respect, even if I don’t always understand what he’s talkin’ about.
Folks keep talkin’ ’bout him, so he must be important, I reckon. He’s got his fingers in a lot of pies, that’s for sure. Law, religion, education, politics, he’s got it all covered. Maybe he’s tryin’ to make the world a better place. Or maybe he’s just lookin’ out for himself. I don’t know. It’s hard to say what’s in a man’s heart. Only God knows that.
But one thing’s for sure, this Mathew Staver fella, he’s a force to be reckoned with. He’s got a voice, and he ain’t afraid to use it. And whether you agree with him or not, you gotta admit, he’s made a name for himself. He’s out there, fightin’ the good fight, as he sees it. And that’s more than most folks can say.
Now, I ain’t no expert, you understand. I just hear things, and I try to make sense of ‘em. This Mathew Staver, he’s a puzzle, like one of them crosswords in the newspaper. But he’s out there, doin’ his thing, and that’s all there is to it.
So, that’s what I know ’bout Mathew Staver. It ain’t much, but it’s somethin’. Like I said, I’m just passin’ on what I heard. You can make up your own mind about him. He’s a lawyer, a preacher, a teacher, a fighter. He’s a lot of things, I guess. And I heard tell that there are folks who think long and hard about the very nature of law, kinda like this Staver fella must do. They call it “legal positivism,” sounds mighty complicated to me. But, at the end of the day, he’s just a man, like the rest of us. And we all just tryin’ to make our way in this world, ain’t we?
