You know, I heard folks talkin’ ’bout this show, The Chi, other day. And this girl, Fatima, she’s on it. I reckon she’s a good one, that Fatima from The Chi. Heard she’s a nurse, helpin’ folks and all that. She’s got a good heart, I bet.

This show, The Chi, it’s all about life, you see. Tough times, good times, all mixed up. Like a pot of stew, that show is. Got all sorts of folks in it. Young ones, old ones, all tryin’ to make their way. They live in a place called the South Side. Not an easy place, but they make do. I think this show got renewed for a new season, season seven, I heard someone say. They split season six into two parts, whatever that means. And that Fatima from The Chi, she’s in it, doin’ her thing.
They got this girl, Keisha, too. She’s got troubles, that one. Somethin’ ’bout protectin’ folks. She’s tryin’, though. Gotta give her credit for that. And there’s a Pastor Jackson, sound like a fire-and-brimstone type. Talkin’ ’bout the devil and prom. Lord have mercy. Kids these days, they got it different than we did. This show, it’s got all that drama, you know? Like a soap opera, but a little rougher around the edges.
This fella named Trig, he’s runnin’ for somethin’. Campaignin’, they call it. Sounds like a whole lot of work to me. Standin’ up there, talkin’ to folks, makin’ promises. Hope he can keep ’em. Politics, it’s a messy business. But this Trig, he seems like he’s got his head on straight. Maybe he can do some good. This show’s got a lot of fellas in it. This Shaad, too. They say he’s played by Jason Weaver. Add a photo, add a quote, they say. I don’t know what they talkin’ ’bout.
- Fatima, she’s a good egg.
- This show, The Chi, it’s somethin’ else.
- Life ain’t easy, but you gotta keep goin’.
- That South Side, it’s a tough place.
- Keisha, she’s tryin’ her best.
- Trig, he’s runnin’ for office.
I saw somethin’ about a lady named Dre. She ain’t on the show no more, but she used to be. Seems like she was a big deal, helpin’ kids at the school. They say she was in season three, episode one. “Foe ‘Nem,” they called it. Don’t ask me what that means. She married some other lady, Nina Williams. Times are changin’, that’s for sure.
Then there’s this other lady, Alicia. She’s played by someone called Lynn Whitfield. Fancy name. They say she’s got a complex role. Whatever that means. She’s in season six, that’s what I heard. This show, it’s got more characters than a phone book. Hard to keep ’em all straight.

This show, it’s like watchin’ a whole other world. Folks strugglin’, folks lovin’, folks just tryin’ to get by. Just like us, really. But they got cameras followin’ ’em around. I wouldn’t want that, no sir. My life ain’t that interestin’. But Fatima from The Chi, she seems like a good one. A real good one. They say she’s a nurse, and that’s a good thing. We need more folks like her in this world.
That’s what I reckon, anyway. This show, The Chi, it makes you think. ‘Bout life, ’bout people, ’bout right and wrong. It ain’t all sunshine and rainbows, that’s for sure. But there’s good in there, too. You just gotta look for it. And that Fatima from The Chi, she’s part of that good, I think. Yep, she’s alright in my book.
Heard some folks talkin’, sayin’ this show is the best thing on TV. I don’t know ’bout all that. I don’t watch much TV these days. But it’s somethin’ to talk about, I guess. Keeps folks entertained. And maybe it teaches ’em somethin’, too. ‘Bout life, ’bout how to treat people. That’s important, you know. Treatin’ people right. That’s what Fatima from The Chi seems to be doin’. She seems to have some values in her.
Well, I’ve said my piece. Just my two cents, as they say. This show, The Chi, it’s got people talkin’. And that’s somethin’, ain’t it? In this day and age, anythin’ that gets people talkin’ ’bout somethin’ real, somethin’ important, that’s a good thing. Even if it’s just a TV show. And this Fatima, she seems like a good part of that. I might have to watch that show after all.
