Okay, so, I’ve heard a lot of people talking about whether or not having sex can mess with your period. Like, can it actually delay it? I was curious, so I decided to do a little experiment on myself. It’s not exactly scientific, but I figured, why not?

I started tracking my periods a while back, just using one of those period-tracker apps. It’s pretty handy for knowing when to expect it. I noticed that my cycle is usually pretty regular, like 28-30 days or so. Nothing crazy.
So, here’s what I did. I had sex a few times during my cycle, especially around the time when my period was supposed to start. I made sure it wasn’t just, like, a quickie. I wanted to see if there was any noticeable change in when my period would arrive.
The Experiment
- Tracked My Cycle: Used a period-tracking app.
- Had Sex: Multiple times during my cycle, especially close to my expected period start date.
- Observed: Noted if my period was delayed.
Guess what? My period came right on time. No delays, no surprises. It was like clockwork, just as the app predicted. I did this for a couple of months, just to be sure, and the result was the same every time. Sex didn’t seem to have any impact on the timing of my period.
Now, I know this isn’t some big scientific study with a bunch of participants and controls. It’s just my personal experience. But it did make me realize that a lot of what we hear about sex and periods might just be myths.
I did a little digging online afterward, and it turns out there’s no real scientific evidence that sex delays your period. Unless you get pregnant, of course! That’s a whole different story. But the act of having sex itself? Doesn’t seem to mess with your cycle.
So, yeah, that’s my little experiment. It was interesting to see for myself, and honestly, it was kind of a relief to know that I don’t have to worry about sex throwing my cycle off. If you’re curious, maybe try tracking your own cycle and see what happens. Just remember, everyone’s body is different, so your experience might be different from mine.
