Alright, so I went ahead and signed up for this couple therapy training thing. It wasn’t something I’d usually do, but I figured, why not? Life’s short, and maybe I could pick up a thing or two.

First off, I registered for the training online. Pretty straightforward stuff. Filled out a form, paid the fee, and boom, I was in. No fuss, no muss.
Then came the actual training. It was a mix of online sessions and some in-person workshops. I logged in to the online stuff from my living room, coffee in hand. The in-person stuff, well, that meant actually leaving the house. But hey, I managed.
- Attended a bunch of lectures. Some were kinda boring, but others were actually pretty interesting. I even took some notes, believe it or not.
- Participated in role-playing exercises. This was awkward at first, pretending to be a couple with a stranger. But, you know, I got into it. We acted out some scenarios, tried to resolve conflicts, the whole nine yards.
- Listened to experienced therapists share their stories. These were the real deal. Hearing about their successes and, yeah, their failures too, was eye-opening. I learned a lot from them.
- Read some materials they gave us. Textbooks, articles, that sort of thing. I skimmed through most of it, but I did find a few gems in there.
- Completed a few assignments. Had to write some reflections, analyze case studies, you know, the usual academic stuff. Wasn’t too bad, actually.
- Practiced some techniques on my own. Tried to apply what I was learning in my own life. Surprisingly, some of it actually worked!
The Outcome
After all that, I actually finished the training. Got a certificate and everything. Now, am I some kind of expert couple therapist? Nah. But did I learn something? Yeah, I think I did. It was a worthwhile experience, even if it was a bit out of my comfort zone.
And that was my journey through couple therapy training. Nothing too fancy, just a regular guy trying something new. It was a bit of a rollercoaster, but in the end, I’m glad I did it. Maybe I’ll even sign up for another training someday. Who knows?
