Okay, so I’ve been seeing this “frat wedding” thing all over TikTok and Instagram, and I was like, “What the heck is that?” I’m not in a frat, never been to a frat party, so I was totally clueless. Naturally, I dove in to figure it out.

First, I scrolled through a bunch of videos. I saw a lot of guys in suits, often pastel-colored or just generally bright and preppy. Lots of outdoor settings, like golf courses or country clubs. It seemed like a daytime party, which was interesting.
Digging a Little Deeper
Then I started reading some articles and comments. I learned that it’s basically a themed party, a “fake wedding”. I guess these guys are having fun while learning how to organize a party, it is a great practice for them.
Here’s what I gathered are the key ingredients:
- The Vibe: Super preppy. Think Southern, almost country club-ish.
- The Dress Code: Guys in suits (often colorful ones), girls in cocktail dresses or something similar.
- The Activities: Usually outdoors, maybe some lawn games, definitely a lot of socializing and probably some drinking.
- The Point: It’s not a real wedding, obviously. It’s just a chance to dress up, hang out, and have a good time with a fun theme. I guess for some people, it’s a way to practice for a real wedding.
After watching and reading, I feel like I kinda get it now. It’s not my scene, but I can see why people would enjoy it. It’s a chance to be a little extra, a little fancy, and have a themed party that’s a bit different from the usual college scene.
So, that’s my little journey into understanding what a “frat wedding” is. I went from totally confused to having a pretty good grasp of it, all thanks to the internet!
