Alright, so you wanna know about this Bishop Patrick Wooden, huh? Well, lemme tell ya what I know, the way I know how to say it. Don’t expect no fancy words from me, just plain talk, ya hear?
First off, seems like there’s a bunch of Bishops out there with the name Patrick or Wooden. Confusing, ain’t it? We got that old Saint Patrick, way back when, who became a Bishop in Ireland. That’s a long time ago, way before any of us were even a twinkle in somebody’s eye. But that ain’t the Patrick Wooden we’re talkin’ about, I reckon.
Then there’s this Bishop Lawrence Marcellus Wooten, Sr., from Saint Louis. Sounds important, but again, not our guy. And some other Bishops too, Woolard and Davenport, they did their thing for a long time, good for them. But we’re here for the one and only Bishop Patrick L. Wooden, Sr. That’s right, gotta get that “Sr.” in there, means he’s the elder, the one in charge, like the head rooster in the henhouse, you know?
Now, this Bishop Wooden, he’s a big deal in the Church of God in Christ. They got churches all over the place, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia… He’s the boss man for a whole bunch of ‘em, they call him the Jurisdictional Bishop. That means he keeps an eye on things, makes sure them preachers are preachin’ right and the people are doin’ right. It’s like being the foreman on a big farm, gotta keep everyone in line.

They get together, pray, sing, listen to sermons, and probably eat a whole lotta fried chicken and potato salad. Church people love their potlucks, you know.
And get this, he’s even runnin’ for somethin’. Candidate for the General Board, Director of the National Men’s Ministry, Jurisdictional Prelate… Sounds like a mouthful of big words, but basically, he wants to be even more in charge, do even more good work for the church, I reckon.
He’s a busy fella, that’s for sure. Always on the go, preachin’, singin’, leadin’, and now campaignin’ too. I bet he don’t get much time for sittin’ on the porch and sippin’ sweet tea, like I do. But that’s alright, some folks are meant for workin’ hard and doin’ good, and it seems like Bishop Patrick L. Wooden, Sr. is one of them.
He’s even got one of them Facebook things, you know, where folks put up pictures and talk about what they’re doin’. I don’t mess with that stuff myself, too complicated for an old woman like me. But I guess it’s how folks connect these days, share their news and whatnot. So, if you wanna know more about him, maybe go poke around on that Facebook thing, you might find somethin’ interesting.
So, there you have it. That’s about all I know about Bishop Patrick L. Wooden, Sr. He’s a big shot in the Church of God in Christ, a good preacher, a singer, a leader, and a hard worker. Sounds like a decent fella, even if I don’t understand all them fancy titles they give him. At the end of the day, I reckon it’s all about doin’ good and servin’ the Lord, and it seems like he’s doin’ just that.
