So, I’ve been trying to figure out this whole “ass selfie” thing, or “belfie” as the cool kids call it. It’s way harder than it looks, guys. I swear, I’ve spent more time contorting myself in front of the mirror than I have actually working out.
- First Attempt: The Classic Over-the-Shoulder
Alright, so I started with what I thought was the easiest pose, the classic over-the-shoulder look. You know, the one where you’re basically trying to touch your shoulder blade with your butt cheek? Yeah, that one. I twisted, I turned, I arched my back like a cat. Ended up looking like a pretzel with legs. Not cute. And forget about getting a good angle – my arm kept getting in the way, and half the time, I just ended up taking a picture of my elbow.
- Second Attempt: The Mirror Selfie
Next, I figured a mirror would help. I mean, you can see what you’re doing, right? Wrong. I spent a good 20 minutes adjusting my phone, the lighting, and my body. It is not easy at all. I wanted to give up. But I need to do this because I need to post it on my blog. At last, I finally make it, but it does not look very well as I expected.
- Outfit change
I thought it is because of the outfit, so I went to change my outfit. The black leggings. Hope this time it will be better. I tried a few different angles, even tried lying on the floor (don’t ask). I think I pulled a hamstring. Finally, after countless attempts, a lot of sweating, and a few moments of questioning my life choices, I got a few decent shots. It’s not perfect, but my butt looks okay, I guess. And the black leggings do help a little.
- Filter Magic
Then came the filters. Oh, the filters. I tried them all. Sepia, black and white, that one that makes you look like a cartoon… But at last, I chose a pretty good one, which makes my butt looks fuller.
My conclusion?
Taking a good ass selfie is a workout in itself. My advice? Stretch first, wear black leggings, find a good filter, and don’t be afraid to take a hundred pictures. You’ll probably only like one, but hey, that’s the price of a good belfie. And honestly? It’s kind of fun in a weird, twisted way. Also, don’t forget to pump your glutes. I did some squats and lunges, which makes it look better. Maybe I’ll try again tomorrow. Or maybe I’ll just eat a donut.
