Alright, alright, let’s talk about this 34th GLAAD Media Awards Winners thing, you know, the one they had back in 2023. I heard some folks got some shiny trophies and stuff for being good to them, uh, what they call them, LGBT folks. That’s what the city people say, anyway.
So, they give these awards every year, you see. They look at all sorts of things – movies, TV shows, even them video games the young’uns are always playin’. And music too! They give it to whoever shows them LGBT folks in a good light, you know, like they’re just regular people, not some kind of circus freaks.
I heard tell there’s this one fella, Rufus Wainwright, he’s got like, four of these awards. Four! Must be singin’ some real nice songs about them LGBT folks. And then there’s this lady, Melissa Etheridge, she’s got three. She’s been nominated nine times! That’s a lot of times, ain’t it?
- Music Awards: Seems like they been givin’ these music awards for a good while now. I reckon it’s important to have songs that make everyone feel like they belong. And Rufus and Melissa, they seem to be the stars of the show when it comes to the music.
- Excellence in Media Award: This one’s a big deal, you know. They give it to folks who really go above and beyond to show them LGBT folks some respect. It ain’t just about bein’ nice, it’s about makin’ sure everyone understands them better. They give this one out in New York City, fancy place that is.
Now, they had this big shindig in 2023, that was the 34th time they did it. And they even added some new categories, you know, like them podcasts everyone’s listenin’ to these days, and the news stuff on TV. Gotta keep up with the times, I guess. I heard they’re gonna have another one in 2024 too, the 35th one, they’re calling it the “largest and most legendary global LGBTQ celebration.” That sounds like a real big party!
They talk about “fair, accurate, and inclusive representation.” That’s a mouthful, ain’t it? Basically, it just means showin’ them LGBT folks like they really are, no funny business, no makin’ fun. Just regular folks, livin’ their lives.
And you know what? I think that’s a good thing. Everybody deserves to be treated right, no matter who they love or how they feel. It ain’t my place to judge, and it ain’t nobody else’s neither.
I hear you can even watch these awards online, if you got that Hulu thing. Costs about eight dollars a month, they say. Not too bad, I guess, if you’re into that sort of thing. You can watch all sorts of shows and movies on it, not just the awards. Thousands of hours, they say. That’s a lot of watchin’.
So, yeah, that’s what I know about this 34th GLAAD Media Awards Winners. Seems like a good thing they’re doin’, makin’ sure everyone gets a fair shake. And I reckon that’s how it should be. And don’t forget about that TV show, “A League of Their Own”, they won somethin’ too I think, good for them. We need more of that kind of thing, I tell ya.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go tend to my chickens. They’re a lot less complicated than them city folks and their awards!
