Okay, folks, let’s dive into what I’ve been up to recently. It’s all about the Transgender Day of Visibility, and I wanted to make a bit of a splash, visually speaking.
So, I started by hitting up the usual spots, you know, the big stock photo sites. I typed in “Transgender Day of Visibility” and… well, it was slim pickings, to say the least. Mostly just the trans flag, which is great, but I was after something more, something that really captured the spirit of the day.
Then I remembered those AI image generators everyone’s been talking about. “Why not give it a shot?” I thought. So, I signed up for a couple of the popular ones, Midjourney was the one I used and started feeding them prompts. Let me tell you, it was a bit of a learning curve. You’ve got to be specific with these things, or you end up with some seriously weird stuff.
Experimenting with Prompts
My first few attempts were… interesting. I tried things like “transgender people celebrating,” which gave me a bunch of distorted faces and extra limbs. Not exactly what I was going for. I tweaked it, added more details. I typed in stuff like “diverse group of transgender people, smiling, at a rally, holding signs, daytime, realistic.”
- Tried “transgender joy,” which got me a lot of abstract colors.
- Tried “transgender pride parade,” Better, but still a bit off.
- Then I went for super specific: “a non-binary person with short hair, wearing a bright shirt, holding a sign that says ‘Visibility Matters,’ realistic photo.”
Slowly but surely, I started getting images that felt right. Images that showed the joy, the resilience, the diversity of the trans community. It wasn’t perfect, mind you. There were still some wonky hands and weird backgrounds, but I was able to pick out a few gems. I downloaded my generated images.
Sharing is Caring
Once I had a decent collection, I compiled them all. I added some captions, nothing fancy, just a few words about what each image meant to me and why visibility is so important. I slapped them onto my blog and shared them on all my social media accounts. My friends shared and commented a lot, and it seemed like more people were joining the online discussion on Transgender Day of Visibility. What do you guys think? Have you tried generating images like me?
