Well, let me tell ya ’bout this fella, Richard Land. I heard some folks talkin’ and I figured I’d try and piece it together for ya.

Who is this Richard Land fella anyway? Seems like he’s a big shot preacher man, a pastor they call it. And not just any pastor, mind you, a Southern Baptist one. Heard tell he’s been ordained and all, which I reckon means he’s been doin’ this for a good long while.
Now, they say he’s been a member of somethin’ down in Washington. Don’t rightly know what that is, but sounds important. Washington, you know, that’s where all them fancy politicians hang out. Maybe he’s tryin’ to keep them on the straight and narrow, Lord knows they need it.
This Richard Land, he ain’t just preachin’ on Sundays, no sir. He’s been writin’ stuff too. They call him an author. I ain’t read none of his books, mind you, but I hear he’s got plenty to say. Probably ’bout the Bible and such. And get this, he’s even an editor over at some place called the Christian Post. Sounds fancy, don’t it?
- He’s a pastor, a Southern Baptist one at that.
- He’s been a member of somethin’ in Washington.
- He writes books, they call him an author.
- He’s an editor at the Christian Post.
But wait, there’s more! This fella, he’s real smart. Went to some fancy schools, Princeton and Oxford I think they said. Sounded foreign to me. Magna cum laude, they called it. Don’t know what that means, but it sure sounds impressive. Probably means he got good grades, unlike my Johnny who barely finished high school.
And he ain’t just studied the Bible, I reckon. He went to somethin’ called the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Seminary, that’s where they teach ya how to be a preacher, I think. So he’s been learnin’ about this stuff for a long, long time.

Now, where’s he been workin’? Well, they say he used to be the president of somethin’ called the Southern Evangelical Seminary. That was back in 2013, or so they say. President, huh? Sounds like he was the head honcho, the big cheese. Runnin’ the whole shebang.
Seems like this Richard Land fella has done a whole heap of things. Preachin’, writin’, leadin’. He’s a busy man, that’s for sure. Probably got more degrees than a thermometer. And all them fancy schools he went to, my goodness! Must be smarter than a whip.
But hold on a minute, I heard some folks talkin’ about another Richard. Somethin’ about a king, Richard the Third they called him. Now this ain’t the same fella, mind you. This Richard was a king way back when, in England. And from what I gather, he was a real mean one. A villain, they said. Killed his own family, even married his victim’s widow to become king! Can you believe that? Sounds like somethin’ outta one of them soap operas my granddaughter watches.
They even wrote a play about him, some fella named Shakespeare. Said he was a twisted tyrant. But then I heard some other folks sayin’ that wasn’t the whole story, that he wasn’t so bad after all. Guess history’s like that, depends on who’s tellin’ the story. This King Richard, he fought a big battle and got killed. Bosworth, they called it. That was the end of him.
Now, why am I tellin’ you about this King Richard? Well, it just goes to show ya, there’s all kinds of Richards out there. Some good, some bad. Our Richard Land, the preacher man, he seems like a good one, far as I can tell. But you never know, I always say. People can surprise ya.

So, what have we learned about this Richard Land? He’s a smart, educated preacher man who’s done a lot of different things. He’s a leader, a writer, and seems to be a respected fella in his circles. And he ain’t nothin’ like that evil King Richard, that’s for sure. One’s preachin’ the good word, the other was causin’ all sorts of trouble. Two different Richards, two different stories. And that’s all I gotta say about that.
