Alright, so I decided to dive back into the wild west, but this time with a spooky twist. I’m talking about Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare. Specifically, I wanted to get my hands on all those mythical horses. Here’s how my zombie-horse-catching adventure went down.

Getting Started with the Undead
First things first, I had to actually, you know, start Undead Nightmare. I made sure my regular Red Dead Redemption game was all saved up – wouldn’t want to lose any progress there. Then, I fired up the Undead Nightmare DLC and got ready for some creepy crawlies.
Finding Those First Horses
I remembered from my last playthrough that you gotta break these special horses just like regular ones, but they’re way tougher. So I started roaming around, keeping an eye out for the telltale signs. The Four Horses of the Apocalypse, that’s what I was after! I knew they each had a special ability, too, which was super cool.
Wranglin’ War
I spotted War first, this fiery horse that sets zombies on fire. Badass! Finding him wasn’t too hard, he was kind of blazing a trail (pun intended). I hopped on, and let me tell you, it was a rodeo. This guy was strong. It took a few tries, but I finally managed to break him. The feeling of riding a horse that’s literally on fire? Awesome.
- War: Found him pretty easily because, well, fire. Tough to break, but totally worth it.
Catching Famine
Next up was Famine. I’d heard this one was attracted to swarms of insects, which made sense. I kept an eye on the skies and the ground, looking for any unusual bug activity. Eventually, I found a huge swarm, and there he was! This one was even more of a pain to break than War, but I got there eventually. Stamina drain is his thing, makes sense I suppose.
- Famine: Followed the bugs, found the horse. Super tough to break, drained my stamina like crazy.
Dealing with Pestilence
Pestilence was the one I was dreading. It’s super tough, takes a beating like it’s nothing. The best thing about this one? Undead don’t seem to attack it. It took me forever but eventually, I find one.

- Pestilence: Super tanky, hard to take down. A long chase, but a great one.
Snagging Death
Death… well, Death was actually given to me as part of the story. Didn’t have to chase this one down! He explodes zombie heads when you run them over, which is just as fun as it sounds.
- Death: Given as part of the story. Exploding zombie heads? Yes, please!
Mythical Creature Time
After getting the Four Horses, I was ready for the real prize: the Unicorn! I remembered that you have to find this one after you’ve completed all the challenges, and save the last unicorn for the last challege. After that, the game tells you that a mythical creature roams the land. Then I knew my task was to find the Unicorn.
So I found the Unicorn and it was such a chore, but such a satisfying feeling!
- Unicorn: A chore to find, but so satisfying!.
The End of My Zombie Horse Roundup
So, yeah, that was my weekend. Wrangling zombie horses, exploding heads, and riding a unicorn. Pretty standard stuff, right? Honestly, it was a blast going back to Undead Nightmare and tracking down these unique mounts. If you’re looking for a fun challenge in a classic game, I highly recommend giving it a shot. Just be prepared for a wild ride!
