Okay, so the other day I had to check out the Planned Parenthood in Baton Rouge. I’d been meaning to go for a while, but you know how it is – life gets in the way. Anyway, I finally decided it was time to take care of business. I had to choose emergency contraception because something went wrong last night.

First thing, I did was look up their address online. Turns out it’s at 3825 Government Street. Not too far from where I live, which was a relief. I didn’t want to drive all over town. The clinic is called Planned Parenthood – Baton Rouge Health Center. Also, I got their phone number, (225) 387-1167, just in case I needed to call ahead.
I hopped in my car and headed over there. When I arrived, I found parking, and I saw the sign, “Planned Parenthood,” so I knew I was in the right place. I walked in and saw a few people in the waiting area. The receptionist was friendly enough. She greeted me and asked for my name and what I was there for.
I told her I needed to book an appointment. Luckily, they had some availability that day. I was relieved because I wanted to get this taken care of as soon as possible. They gave me some paperwork to fill out, just the usual stuff – name, address, medical history, and all that jazz. It didn’t take too long, and I handed it back to the receptionist.
While I was waiting, I noticed some brochures about various services they offer – birth control, STD testing, pregnancy testing, and the morning-after pill. It’s good to know they have all these options available.
Finally, it was my turn. I went into the examination room, and a nurse came in shortly after. She was really nice and professional. She asked me a few questions about my health and what I needed. I told her I was interested in emergency contraception. She explained how it works and gave me my options, like the pill. The nurse also checked my blood pressure. She said I didn’t need a pelvic exam which I felt so relieved about.

After a brief consultation, the nurse went to get the pill for me. She came back, gave it to me with a cup of water, and instructed me on how to take it. She said I should take it as soon as possible for it to be most effective. She also mentioned some potential side effects, like nausea or a change in my period, but nothing too serious.
The whole process was pretty quick and painless. I paid for the pill at the front desk, and it wasn’t too expensive, which was a relief. I was in and out of there in about an hour or so. They recommended wearing loose clothing and undergarments that can handle a sanitary pad, which is good advice.
