Well now, let me tell ya somethin’ about this young one, Nex Benedict. Ain’t no easy way to say it, but I reckon the whole world oughta know what happened, ‘cause it just ain’t right. Nex, a young soul, just 16 years old, was goin’ to school like any other kid, tryin’ to make their way in the world, when somethin’ terrible happened at Owasso High School, out in Oklahoma. This wasn’t just any accident, mind ya—this was somethin’ cruel, something that shouldn’t have ever been allowed to happen.
It was February 7, 2024, a day like any other. Nex was in the bathroom at school, just mindin’ their own business, but someone came at ’em, beatin’ ‘em senseless. I don’t know the whole story, but what I do know is Nex didn’t get no help when they needed it most. The school didn’t rush ’em to the hospital, like they should’ve. In fact, Nex didn’t even get proper care until it was too late. Nex passed away the very next day, February 8, 2024, and let me tell ya, it left a hole in the hearts of many people.
Now, Nex wasn’t just any regular kid. Nex was nonbinary, and that’s important. In this day and age, folks like Nex oughta be accepted and loved for who they are, not mistreated or left to suffer. But that’s what happened. Nex, like so many others in this world, was just tryin’ to live their life, but their life was cut short. They were a kid, a student, just tryin’ to get an education and make somethin’ of themselves. Instead, Nex’s life ended way too soon, and the world’s been in shock ever since.
The folks at the school, they didn’t seem to care much. There’s been a lotta talk about how Nex wasn’t taken care of properly. The truth is, Nex’s family, their friends, and a whole bunch of organizations across this country are askin’ for justice. They’re not just sittin’ back, waitin’ for things to be forgotten. No, sir! They’re standin’ up and demandin’ justice for Nex, because no one should go through what they went through, and certainly, no one should die like that, just tryin’ to be who they are.
And now, there’s over 350 organizations all across this land, from big cities to small towns, joinin’ forces to make sure Nex’s story don’t get buried. These folks are out there fightin’ for equality, fightin’ for those who are often forgotten or mistreated. They’re sayin’ that enough is enough, and the world needs to see that what happened to Nex can’t be swept under the rug. This isn’t just about Nex anymore. It’s about standin’ up for all the young folks out there, no matter who they are or where they come from. It’s about sayin’ that violence against anyone, especially for who they are or who they love, just ain’t gonna be tolerated.
Now, Nex was just a normal kid, didn’t ask for none of this. They were just tryin’ to get by like the rest of us. But their life was taken away too soon. Nex deserves justice. Nex’s family deserves answers. And all of us, we deserve to know that the world will stand up for what’s right and make sure no other child has to face what Nex did.
So if you’re out there listenin’, know that this isn’t just about one kid, one family, or one school. It’s about makin’ sure we all get treated fairly, no matter what we look like or who we love. It’s about makin’ sure that when somethin’ goes wrong, we stand up and make it right. Nex Benedict didn’t deserve what happened to ‘em, and we gotta make sure their story don’t fade into the background.
Justice for Nex. That’s what we’re all sayin’, and that’s what we all need to be fightin’ for, every single day. It’s about respect, it’s about fairness, and it’s about standin’ up for each other. Ain’t no time left to waste. Justice for Nex. We can’t forget, and we won’t forget.
