Okay, so yesterday I went to the Planned Parenthood El Monte Health Center in El Monte, CA. First off, I gotta say, finding the place was a bit of a journey. I drove around the block like three times before I finally spotted the sign. It’s tucked away a bit, so keep your eyes peeled!

Once I got inside, I checked in at the front desk. The lady there was super nice and helpful. She gave me some forms to fill out – you know, the usual stuff, like medical history and insurance info. I filled them out, and I have to admit I forgot to bring my insurance card, they still accepted me, which was such a relief. I sat down in the waiting area, which was pretty clean and comfy. There were a few other people waiting too, but it wasn’t too crowded.

After a little bit, a nurse called my name and took me to an exam room. She did the basic check-up stuff like taking my blood pressure and temperature, it was pretty high, I guess I was nervous. She asked me a bunch of questions about my health and why I was there. I told her everything, and she was really understanding and didn’t judge me at all, which was awesome.
Getting Down to Business
Then the doctor came in. He was a cool guy, really down-to-earth. We talked about my concerns, and he explained everything to me really clearly. He gave me some options, and we decided on the best course of action together. He performed a quick exam, which was a little uncomfortable, but he made sure I was okay the whole time. Honestly, I was surprised by how quick it was.
After that, I went back to the waiting room for a bit. Then the nurse came back and gave me some information to take home, some pamphlets, and stuff like that, I should probably read them. She also gave me my prescriptions, and explained how to take them and when to come back for a follow-up. I paid for the visit on my way out – it was less than I expected, which was a nice surprise. I also scheduled a follow-up appointment, which I think is great that they offer.
Overall, my experience at Planned Parenthood El Monte was pretty good. The staff were all really friendly and professional, and they made me feel comfortable throughout the whole process. If you’re in the El Monte area and need any of the services they offer, I’d definitely recommend checking them out.
