Well, let me tell ya ’bout them Michigan Senate fellas running around in 2024. It’s a real hoot, all these folks wantin’ to go to Lansing, you know?

The Big Names You Gotta Know
Seems like there’s two main chickens in the coop this time ’round. Heard tell one’s a Republican fella, name of Mike Rogers. Don’t know much ’bout him, ‘cept he’s been around the block a time or two. The other one, she’s a Democrat, Elissa Slotkin they call her. Heard she’s pretty sharp, like a tack, that one.
Now, they say both these folks got some strong somethin’ or others, you know, “backgrounds” they call it. Means they done some stuff before, I reckon. Mike, he’s been in the military, I think, and Elissa, she was in the government doin’ somethin’ or other. Don’t rightly matter to me what they done before, long as they do right by us folks now, ya know?
- Mike Rogers – Republican, been around a while.
- Elissa Slotkin – Democrat, seems kinda smart.
When You Gotta Vote
Now, they’re makin’ a big fuss about when to vote. Seems like it’s always somethin’ new. They say you gotta register by October 21st. That means you gotta tell ’em you wanna vote, get your name on the list, and all that jazz. Then, you can start votin’ early, October 26th they say. Ain’t that somethin’? You can vote before the real votin’ day, which is November 5th. Seems like a lot of fuss to me, but I guess that’s how they do things in the city.

What Them Candidates Say
Now, I ain’t listened to all them fancy speeches and debates and such. Too much talkin’ for my taste. But from what I hear, they’re arguin’ ’bout the usual stuff. Jobs, they say. Taxes, they say. Schools for the young’uns, they say. Health care too, that’s a big one. Seems like every year they promise to fix it, and every year it’s still a mess. Makes a body wonder, don’t it?
Mike, he’s talkin’ ’bout bein’ tough on crime, makin’ things safer they say. He’s talkin’ ’bout lowerin’ taxes too. Sounds good on paper, but I ain’t seen a politician lower taxes yet. Elissa, she’s talkin’ ’bout helpin’ the workin’ folks, makin’ sure everyone’s got a fair shake. She’s talkin’ ’bout protectin’ the environment too, clean air and water and all that. Both of ’em sound like they got good ideas, but who knows if they’ll actually do anythin’.
Voting Time
So, November 5th is the big day. That’s when we gotta go out there and pick one of these folks. It ain’t always easy, makin’ a choice like that. You gotta figure out who you trust, who you think will do the best job. Me, I just hope they remember who they’re workin’ for. They ain’t workin’ for themselves, they’re workin’ for us, the people. And if they forget that, well, we’ll just have to remind ’em, won’t we?

Other Things to Know
Now, they got this thing called Mid-Michigan NOW, and they’re interviewin’ all these candidates. If you’re one of them fancy folks who likes to watch that kinda stuff, you can check it out, I reckon. And there’s somethin’ called The Michigan Daily, and they got some kinda guide about the elections. Tells you where to vote and who’s runnin’. Sounds like a lot of work to me, but some folks like that kinda thing.
This whole Michigan Senate race in 2024, it’s a big deal, they say. It’s important to choose the right person, someone who will stand up for us regular folks. So, do your research, listen to what they have to say, and then make your choice. And most importantly, don’t forget to vote! Every vote counts, even this old lady’s vote counts. It’s our right, our duty, and our way of makin’ sure our voices are heard. So get out there on November 5th and make a difference!
And don’t you let nobody tell you your vote don’t matter, ’cause it does. Every single one of them votes matters, whether you’re a farmer, a teacher, a factory worker, or just a plain old lady like me. We all gotta do our part to make this country a better place.
