Well, let me tell ya ’bout this fella, Kusem Goodwind. Sounds like a made-up name, don’t it? Like somethin’ you’d hear on the TV. But anyways, this Kusem, he’s a big deal in this… movie, I think it is. They call it “Rez Ball.” Sounds like somethin’ my grandson would watch, always with them balls and such.

This Kusem plays a fella named Nataanii Jackson. Now, Nataanii, he ain’t had it easy. Poor boy lost his mama and sister. A drunk driver, they say. Can you imagine? Breaks your heart, it does. Just terrible. So this Nataanii, he’s all sad and such. Wouldn’t you be? Grieving, they call it. He’s a real good basketball player, though. The star, they say. Best of the bunch. But after that tragedy, well, he just couldn’t play no more. Sat out the whole season, he did. Poor fella.
Then there’s this other boy, Jimmy Holiday. Kinda funny name, ain’t it? But he’s Nataanii’s best friend. Been friends since they was little tykes, I reckon. Jimmy, he’s the captain of the team. A real leader, you know? Keeps them boys in line, I guess. And he’s charming, too. That’s what they say, anyways. Charming. Means he’s got a nice smile, I reckon.
- Nataanii (Kusem Goodwind) – Star player, real good but sad.
- Jimmy Holiday (Kauchani Bratt) – Team captain, Nataanii’s best friend, real charmin’.
- Coach Heather (Jessica Matten) – She’s the coach, tells ‘em what to do, I guess.
So, this “Rez Ball,” it’s about this basketball team. They ain’t doin’ so good, seems like. Down on their luck, they say. But then somethin’ happens, I guess. Maybe Nataanii comes back? I don’t rightly know. They don’t tell me everything, you know.
Kusem Goodwind, he’s the one everyone’s talkin’ about. They say he’s real good in this movie. Shines, they say. Like a bright star. I don’t know nothin’ ’bout actin’, but I guess he must be doin’ somethin’ right. And that Jimmy fella, he’s good too. Impresses folks, they say. And there’s a lady coach, Heather her name is, she’s trying to get these fellas straightened out, get ‘em playing ball good again.
This whole thing is directed by someone named Sydney Freeland. Another fancy name. I tell ya, these city folks got the strangest names. But I guess they know what they’re doin’. Makin’ movies and such. It’s all a bit confusing to an old woman like me, but it sounds like a story about comin’ back from hard times. About friendship and playin’ ball. And about that Kusem Goodwind fella. He seems like a good boy, even if he’s just pretendin’.

So, if you like basketball and sad stories and happy endings, I guess you might like this “Rez Ball” thing. And you’ll see that Kusem Goodwind fella. Remember his name now. He’s the star, they say. The one who shines.
Seems like this movie is about more than just basketball. It’s about dealing with loss, about friendship, and about finding your way back after something bad happens. It’s about a team, a community, and this young man, Nataanii, played by this Kusem Goodwind. He’s the heart of it all, I reckon. The one everyone’s rootin’ for. Even an old lady like me, I’m rootin’ for him too. Hope he gets his happy endin’, that boy does. He deserves it after all he’s been through.
