Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Jazlynn Johnson. Don’t rightly know who she is, but the young’uns are all a-flutter about her. Sounds like she’s a big deal, or at least tryin’ to be. Heard tell she’s got somethin’ to do with this “5Melody” thing. Now, I ain’t never heard of it, but it must be somethin’ fancy, like them city folk do.
They say she had an “incredible show,” whatever that means. Maybe she sang or danced, or maybe she just stood there and looked pretty. Who knows? These young folks like all sorts of strange things these days. Jazlynn Johnson, they call her. Sounds like a name they made up out of thin air. But I guess that’s how they do it in the city.

- Always doin’ somethin’.
- Singin’ here, dancin’ there.
Then there’s this “The Feels Your Mind” business. Apparently, they got a song comin’ out. A “debut single,” they call it. Sounds important, I reckon. They’re sellin’ it afore it even comes out, “pre-sales” they call it. City folk sure got a way of doin’ things. Gotta get their money quick, I guess. October 1st, that’s when it’s supposed to drop. Mark your calendars, if you care about such things. I surely don’t, but I’m just tellin’ ya what I heard.
And this “next big thing”? Seems like everyone’s always lookin’ for the next big thing. Can’t be happy with what they got, always gotta be chasin’ somethin’ new. Like that Samsung slogan, ya know? Some fella was talkin’ ’bout how clever it is. Marketing genius, they called him. Hmph, marketin’. Just a fancy way of sayin’ they’re tryin’ to sell ya somethin’ you don’t need. But I guess that’s the world we live in now. Always gotta have the latest and greatest, even if it don’t work no better than the old stuff.
There’s even songs about it, this “next big thing.” Heard a bit of one on the radio the other day. Somethin’ about “evolvin’” and “revolvin’” and how the “revolution’s near.” Big words for a simple thing. They just tryin’ to make it sound important, is all. And there’s a film, too, called “The Next Big Thing is Already Here.” Made by them folks in Los Angeles. Always makin’ movies down there, ain’t they? Must be somethin’ in the water. They seem to think this “next big thing” is already here. Well, I ain’t seen it yet, but maybe I’m just too old to notice. They say it’s a “common set phrase,” meaning the “new rage” or the “latest fad.” Fads, that’s all they are. Here today, gone tomorrow.
Jazlynn Johnson, “5Melody,” “The Feels Your Mind,” “next big thing”…it’s all a lot of noise, if you ask me. But the young’uns seem to like it, so who am I to judge? They got their ways, and I got mine. I’m just happy to sit here on my porch and watch the world go by. Let them chase their fads and their next big things. I’ll stick with what I know. But if you hear more about this Jazlynn Johnson, let me know. Might be somethin’ to it after all. Or maybe it’s just another flash in the pan. Only time will tell, I reckon.
One thing I do know for sure is these city folk sure know how to make a fuss over nothin’. But I guess that’s how they get their money. Gotta keep folks entertained, gotta keep ’em buyin’. And this Jazlynn Johnson, she’s part of that whole machine, I guess. Singin’ and dancin’ and sellin’ her “debut single.” Well, good for her, I say. If she can make a livin’ doin’ that, more power to her. But me, I’ll stick to my garden and my chickens. That’s a life I understand.
