Okay, so, I saw this title somewhere, “and he was trying to save this girl,” and it got me thinking, what could I make with this? I’ve been messing around with some new video editing stuff lately, and I thought this could be a cool theme to play with.

First off, I needed some footage. I didn’t have anything that really fit the bill, so I spent a couple of hours digging through some old videos I had lying around. I found a few clips of a friend of mine trying to help someone who was stuck on a hiking trail. Not exactly a dramatic rescue, but hey, it’s something, right? I also grabbed some random shots of sunsets and cityscapes to use as filler.
Then, I fired up my video editor. I use this program, it’s pretty simple, nothing too fancy. I imported all the clips and started to piece them together. I put the hiking clips first. They are not very exciting, just my friend holding someone’s arm while going down the hill. But with the right music, I think I can make it work.
Next, I started messing with the colors. I wanted to give it a kind of dreamy, nostalgic feel, so I bumped up the saturation and added a bit of a vignette. It’s starting to look kinda cool, I guess. Then I spent, like, an hour trying to find the right music. I finally settled on this instrumental piece I found. It’s got this melancholic vibe that I think fits the theme.
- Import video clips
- Adjust colors and add effects
- Find and add background music
- Trim and arrange clips to match the music
- Add some transitions, nothing too crazy
After that, I trimmed the clips to fit the music. I wanted the video to build up to a climax, so I used some slow-motion effects on the hiking clips and timed it with the music’s crescendo. It took a lot of back and forth, cutting a few frames here, adding a second there, but I think I got it to a good place. I also added some transitions between the clips, just some simple fades and cross-dissolves. Nothing too distracting.
The Final Touches
For the final touches, I added a title card at the beginning with the text “and he was trying to save this girl.” I used a simple, bold font, nothing too dramatic. I also added a short outro with some text thanking people for watching. After that, I watched the whole thing a few times to make sure everything looked good and the audio levels were okay. Finally, I exported the video and uploaded it to my channel. It’s not going to win any awards, but I think it turned out pretty okay. It was a fun little project, and I learned a few new things about video editing along the way. Anyway, that’s my story about this video thing.
