Okay, so the title of this post is “Craziest Thing You’ve Done at a Halloweened College,” right? Let me tell you, this one takes the cake.

It all started during my sophomore year at Cassell College. You know, that place outside of Chicago? Yeah, that one. Anyway, Halloween was always a big deal there. We’re talking massive parties, elaborate costumes, the whole nine yards.
So, there I was, a bright-eyed, bushy-tailed sophomore, ready to make some memories. My friends and I decided we were going to go all out that year. We spent weeks planning our costumes and brainstorming the craziest stunt we could pull off. We wanted something epic, something that would be talked about for years to come.
We came up with this idea to “haunt” the main quad. Sounds simple, right? But we wanted to do it in a way that was both spooky and hilarious. We decided to use a projector and some bedsheets to create these giant, floating ghost figures. We spent hours cutting and sewing, making sure these things looked just right. Also needed to make sure these ghosts could be remotely controlled, so I hacked some old RC cars to make them “fly” by attaching them to the ghosts. This was the hardest part as sometimes those cars just would not cooperate. The day before Halloween, we tested it all out in our dorm. Our room was a mess of white sheets, wires, and disassembled RC cars. We managed to get it working and oh boy, it did work.
Finally, the night arrived. We waited until it was dark and most people were at the big Halloween bash in the student center. Then, we snuck out to the quad, our hearts pounding with excitement and a little bit of fear, to be honest. We set up the projector, unfurled our ghostly creations, and let them loose.
These weren’t just any ghosts. We had programmed them to swoop and dive, making these eerie noises we’d recorded earlier. Picture this: giant, glowing ghosts floating across the quad, “flying” in and out of the trees, and occasionally dive-bombing unsuspecting students who were walking by. The reactions were priceless. Some people screamed, others laughed, and a few just stood there, completely bewildered.

- We hid in the bushes, controlling the ghosts with our makeshift remote controls, trying not to burst out laughing.
- We kept this up for about an hour, and it was pure chaos in the best way possible.
- We even managed to get one of the ghosts to “chase” the dean of students for a bit. He took it in good spirits, thankfully.
Eventually, campus security showed up, and we knew it was time to pack it up. We gathered our gear and made a run for it, dodging security guards and giggling like madmen. We stashed everything back in our dorm, feeling like we had just pulled off the greatest Halloween prank in college history.
The next day, the whole campus was buzzing about the “ghosts” in the quad. People were sharing videos and stories online, and it even made the local news! We played it cool, acting just as surprised as everyone else. To this day, only a handful of people know it was us. The RC cars were never found and the dean still wonders about it.
So, that’s my story. It was one of those nights that you just never forget. A perfect blend of planning, creativity, and a little bit of mischief. Ah, college. Good times.
