Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this “2007 looks” thing, and I gotta say, it’s a trip down memory lane. Here’s how it all went down.

The Idea
It all started with a random YouTube video, I think. Someone was talking about old web design, and it just clicked. I wanted to see if I could recreate that classic, kinda clunky, but charming aesthetic.
Getting Started
First, I needed some inspiration. I spent a good hour just browsing old screenshots on the Wayback Machine. You know, those sites with the crazy gradients, animated GIFs everywhere, and, of course, plenty of Comic Sans.
- I dug through old forums.
- I checked out some archived personal websites.
- I even looked at some old MySpace pages (cringe, I know, but helpful!).
The Building Process
Next, I fired up my text editor. I decided to keep it super simple – just HTML and CSS. No fancy frameworks or anything. I wanted it to be authentic, you know?
I started with a basic HTML structure. Then came the fun part: the CSS. I played around with:
- Bright, contrasting colors.
- Those classic “bevel and emboss” effects on buttons (I used box-shadow for that).
- Lots of tables for layout (yeah, I went there!).
- Background images, tiled, of course.
I added some animated GIFs, because, why not? It wouldn’t be 2007 without them.

I used some free clip art. It was surprisingly hard to find good quality stuff!
The Result
Honestly, it looked… well, it looked like 2007! It was kinda ugly, kinda awesome, and definitely nostalgic. It was a fun little project, and it really made me appreciate how far web design has come.
It was a blast playing around the 2007 looks. I felt like a designer god from the early 2000s, it was awesome!
