Okay, so I saw this article title floating around – “Tattoos Aren’t Cool Anymore” – and it kinda got me thinking. I’ve got a few myself, so I figured I’d dive into this whole thing and see what’s up.
First, I scrolled through a bunch of online forums and articles. Just to get a feel for what people were saying. I found a mix of opinions, some people are tired of tattoos and some were still love tattoos.
My Tattoo Journey
I remember getting my first tattoo. I was 18, super pumped, and probably didn’t think it through enough. I got it on my arm.
- Chose a design I thought was awesome at the time.
- Went to a local shop.
- Sat through the pain.
Now, looking back, I kind of regret it. It’s not that I hate it, but my tastes have changed. And it’s, you know, permanent.
Then, I got another one a few years later, this time on my back. This one I actually spent more time planning.
I researched different artists, looked at their portfolios, and really thought about the design.

And guess what? I still love this one! It’s meaningful to me, and it’s something I’m proud to show off.
Are Tattoos “Cool”?
So, back to the whole “cool” thing. After doing my little deep dive and thinking about my own experiences, here’s where I stand. I realize that “cool” is super subjective.
Think about it:
- What was “cool” ten years ago might be totally lame now.
- And what’s “cool” to one person might be ridiculous to someone else.
For me, tattoos are about personal expression. If you get something that means something to you, and you do it for yourself, then who cares if it’s “cool” or not? But if you’re just following a trend, you might end up regretting it later.

I learned from own process that it is very important to get a meaningful tattoo.
So, my advice? Don’t get a tattoo just to be trendy. Do your research, find an artist you trust, and choose something that you’ll still love ten years from now. Or don’t. It’s your body!
