You know, that Fox Searchlight Pictures logo, I seen it a bunch of times. It’s that thing before the movie starts, right? They changed the name, though. Used to have “Fox” in it. Now it’s just Searchlight Pictures. It don’t make much difference to me, a movie is a movie.
They started that whole thing, the Searchlight Pictures, back in, what was it, 1994? I think, yeah, 1994. But they didn’t have that picture, that logo thing, until a year later, 1995. Time sure does fly, don’t it?
They say it’s part of that big Disney thing now. You know, Disney, they own everything these days. Like them cartoons, Mickey Mouse and all that. Big company. They got their hands in everything, those Disney folks.
I remember when it was called Fox Searchlight Pictures. Now it is just Searchlight Pictures. That big company, Disney, they took out the “Fox” part. They own it all now, I reckon. They got a bunch of movie companies, not just this one. They got that Marvel thing, with the superheroes, and that Star Wars thing, too. My grandkids, they love that stuff.

This Searchlight Pictures, they make all kinds of movies. Not just the shoot-em-up kind. They make them sad movies, them funny movies, them scary movies. All kinds. I like the funny ones best. Makes me laugh. The logo is just that writing and some big lights.
That logo, it used to look like that other one, that 20th Century Fox one. You know, with the big building and the lights. They changed it up a bit, made it look fancier, I guess. But it’s still got them big lights shining up in the sky. They always showing that logo.
They say they make them “independent” movies. I don’t know what that means, exactly. Just means they ain’t the usual kind, I guess. They make them foreign movies, too. Movies from other countries, with them subtitles you gotta read. I don’t like them much, hard to keep up with all that reading.
This Searchlight Pictures, they make the movies, they show the movies, they do it all. They got their own way of doing things, I guess. They even got their own people to tell folks about the movies, get them to go see them. Smart folks, I reckon.
One time, they made a special one for the, what did they call it, the 25th anniversary. That’s a long time, 25 years. They been around for a while, that’s for sure. That logo, it was special, just for that year. Then they went back to the regular one, I think.
They had a logo that’s like the 20th Century Fox one but without the words “20th Century Fox” on it. Just the Fox Searchlight Pictures words there. They use it a lot, always showing it off, them folks. I saw it on the Facebook thing.

I seen that logo change over the years. Sometimes it’s just the words, sometimes it’s got them lights, sometimes it’s a little different. But it’s always that same name, Searchlight Pictures, now. Used to be Fox Searchlight Pictures, but not anymore.
They used to be part of that News Corporation thing. Big company, they own a lot of stuff, too. Newspapers and such. But now they’re with Disney. Like I said, Disney owns everything these days. It’s all just big companies owning other big companies, that’s all it is.
It don’t matter much to me, though. As long as they keep making them movies, I’ll keep watching them. I like a good movie, especially one that makes me laugh. And that Searchlight Pictures, they make some good ones, I gotta say. They show a lot of movies with that logo. That Fox Searchlight Pictures logo is a big thing in Hollywood, I guess.
That logo, you see it everywhere. They put it on everything. That Searchlight Pictures, they sure do like to show off their name. The old Fox Searchlight Pictures logo, it was a classic, everyone knows it, that is for sure.
