Alright, so I saw the topic ‘childhood crushes 2000s female’ and it really kicked off a whole wave of thinking. Decided I’d actually spend some time on it, kinda like a little personal project, you know? Just sit down and really dig into those memories.
So, what I did first was just lean back and let my mind wander. Who popped up? It was like a little slideshow of faces from back then. Mostly TV stars and singers, the ones plastered all over magazines and MTV, when MTV still played music videos, ha.
Diving Back In
I actually went online. Started searching for some names that came to mind first. My list probably included folks like:

- Maybe even early Britney or Christina

You know, the big names from Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, and pop music around that time. I remembered watching their shows after school, maybe buying a CD or two with allowance money. Found some old photos online – man, the fashion! Frosted tips, low-rise jeans, chunky highlights… wild times.
Then I got curious about what they’re doing now. Just typed their names into the search bar. It was interesting. Some are still acting or making music, some settled down, became moms. Some definitely had rougher times in the public eye, which you hear about. It felt kinda weird, seeing them as adults now, just like me I guess.
The feeling was pure nostalgia, mostly warm and fuzzy. But also a little bit… I don’t know, strange? Seeing those faces reminded me how intensely I felt about those shows or songs. It wasn’t really about the person, was it? More like the character they played, or the image. Lizzie McGuire felt like a friend, you know? It was about the feeling they represented back then.
This whole thing reminded me of digging through old boxes in my folks’ place a while back. Found a stash of my old teen magazines. Pages were filled with these same faces. Had posters ripped out, quizzes filled in. I even found this diary entry where I debated spending my birthday money on either an NSYNC CD or a Britney Spears one. Such big decisions back then! My sister found it too and wouldn’t let me live it down, remembered me trying to copy some hairstyle I saw on TV using way too much hair gel. Looked like a wet hedgehog.
It’s funny because back then, these crushes and interests felt like the most important thing in the world. Now, looking back, it’s just a sweet, slightly embarrassing memory.
