So, I was looking for something to watch the other night, and I remembered hearing something about 2022 being a pretty good year for LGBTQ+ rom-coms. I mean, who doesn’t love a good romantic comedy, right? And I’m always down to support more inclusive movies.

I started by looking for some lists of the best ones, and man, there were quite a few that came out that year! I saw titles like “Bros,” “Fire Island,” and “Crush” pop up a lot. Apparently, Hulu had a couple of them, which was cool since I already have that.
I also stumbled upon an article talking about how there used to be, like, zero gay rom-coms out there. It’s crazy to think about! But it seems like things are slowly starting to change, which is awesome. The article mentioned “Fire Island” specifically as a newer one that’s breaking ground.
Then, I found this list of most-anticipated LGBTQ+ movies and TV shows for 2022, and it had some interesting stuff. There was even one with Harry Styles playing a closeted cop. Can you believe it? Harry Styles!
I kept digging and found out that 2022 wasn’t just about LGBTQ+ rom-coms. There were all sorts of LGBTQ+ movies and shows coming out, from comedies like “The Birdcage” to Korean crime dramas like “The Handmaiden.” And don’t even get me started on documentaries like “Paris Is Burning” – that one’s a classic.
I ended up watching a couple of trailers and reading some reviews. It turns out that not all of these movies were hits. One of them, “Bros,” apparently got a lot of hate from some people online. Which is a real shame, especially because it got good reviews from critics. It’s like, can’t we all just enjoy a good movie without all the drama?

Anyway, it took me a while, but I finally decided to give “Fire Island” a shot. I’m gonna watch it later this week.
- First, I just searched for 2022 LGBTQ+ rom-com lists.
- Then, I checked which streaming services had them.
- Next, I read some articles about the lack of gay rom-coms in the past and how things are changing.
- After that, I looked at a list of most-anticipated LGBTQ+ movies and shows for 2022.
- Later, I expanded my search to include different genres of LGBTQ+ movies and shows.
- Eventually, I read reviews and watched trailers to make my decision.
I’m pretty excited! I’ll let you know what I think after I watch it.
