Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another story from my life. So, I’ve been diving deep into this whole “cute transgender” thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. I started off just browsing the web, you know, seeing what’s up, and I stumbled upon all these articles and videos about trans representation in media.

I was watching this show, “Pose,” and it really got me thinking. Seeing trans folks on screen, living their lives, it’s powerful stuff. It made me realize how important it is for trans people to see themselves represented, to know they’re not alone. I mean, visibility is crucial, right? So, I watched a ton of films and did some reading and tried to understand what I was seeing and reading.
Then, I started digging into some academic stuff. Yeah, I went there. I found this chapter talking about queer and transgender theories in media and social justice. It was a bit heavy, but it gave me a new perspective on how media can be used to fight for equality. I started reading, taking notes, and making lists of things that I thought were really cool and important, things that I thought should be talked about more often.
Next, I listened to this NPR interview with a journalist named Imara Jones. She was talking about how increased trans representation in media and politics affects the trans community. It was eye-opening to hear her insights and experiences. I took notes from the interview and added some points to my list.
I also checked out this website called “TRANSforming Media.” They had a bunch of resources about understanding the representation of transgender individuals in society and education. I spent hours there, just soaking it all in, reading, watching, and scribbling on my notepad.
Oh, and I watched this documentary called “Disclosure.” The director, Sam Feder, and producer, Amy Scholder, talked about the making of the film and the importance of highlighting transgender depictions. It was really inspiring to hear them talk about their work. I grabbed some popcorn, a drink and my notebook and started watching, writing and munching.

But you know what really hit me? It’s the simple idea that transgender people deserve the same dignity and respect as anyone else. They should be able to live authentically, according to their gender identity, without fear or discrimination. It seems so basic, but it’s something that we still need to fight for. There was this actor, Jeffrey Carlson, who played the first transgender character on TV in “All My Children.” He recently passed away, and it made me reflect on how far we’ve come and how far we still have to go. It made me want to cry and laugh and scream all at the same time! I just wanted to watch everything again and rewrite my notes, but I didn’t have time.
So, yeah, that’s been my journey exploring the world of “cute transgender.” It’s been a mix of emotions, but ultimately, it’s left me feeling more informed and more passionate about advocating for trans rights. I just wish I had more time to really get everything I wanted done. I’m going to keep learning and keep sharing, because this is important stuff, and we all need to be talking about it.
Thanks for listening, everyone. Catch you in the next one!
