So, I found myself needing some, uh, ‘sexy love memes’ the other day. Don’t ask why, long story, involves a slightly awkward inside joke with my partner that kind of spiraled. Anyway, I figured, how hard could it be? The internet’s full of memes, right?

First, I just typed the phrase into a search engine. You know, the usual suspects. And wow, okay. Some of it was… well, not exactly what I had in mind. A lot was just cheesy pickup lines slapped onto random pictures. Some were trying way too hard, you know? Felt kinda forced.
My First Attempts
I thought, maybe I should try making my own. Seemed simple enough. I’ve got a couple of photo editing apps on my phone. So I started looking for pictures. This took longer than expected. Finding a picture that’s kinda suggestive but also funny and not just, like, outright pornographic? Tricky balance.
- Found a picture of a cat looking smug. Thought maybe I could work with that.
- Tried a picture of a slightly melted ice cream cone. Too weird? Probably too weird.
- Considered using a famous painting, but that felt a bit pretentious for a meme.
Then I tried adding text. This is where it really fell apart. Everything I wrote sounded either like a 14-year-old trying to be edgy or like something my grandpa would forward unironically. It just wasn’t landing. The ‘sexy’ part felt clumsy, and the ‘love’ part felt tacked on. And making it funny? Forget about it.
A Bit of a Side Story
It reminded me of this time years ago, I tried to write a love poem for someone. I spent hours on it, trying to be deep and meaningful. Used a thesaurus and everything. When I finally gave it to her, she just burst out laughing. Not in a mean way, she just thought it was hilariously over-the-top and completely unlike me. Which, fair enough. I’m not exactly Shakespeare. Maybe I should stick to what I’m good at, like fixing leaky faucets or remembering birthdays.
Anyway, back to the memes. After my failed attempts at being a meme lord, I went back to searching. This time I tried different keywords. Threw in words like ‘flirty’, ‘relationship humor’, ‘couple memes’. That seemed to filter out some of the weirder stuff.

Finding Something Usable
Eventually, I stumbled across a few that were actually pretty good. They were more about the funny, relatable side of relationships, with just a hint of flirtiness. Less overtly ‘sexy’, more ‘hey, I like you a lot and also you’re hot’. That felt more my speed. It wasn’t exactly what I initially set out for, maybe, but it felt more genuine.
I saved a couple. Sent one over. Got a laughing emoji back, followed by a ‘lol, where did you find this?’ Mission accomplished, I guess? It wasn’t the smooth, Casanova move I maybe vaguely pictured, but it worked. Got a chuckle, broke the ice, served its purpose for the inside joke.
So, yeah. Making or even finding good ‘sexy love memes’ is harder than it looks. Or maybe I’m just bad at it. Probably the latter. Still, it was an… experience. Learned that sometimes trying too hard just makes things awkward, and often the simpler, funnier stuff works best. And maybe cats looking smug have limited meme potential in the romance department. Who knew?
