Okay, so I finally got around to doing something I’d been meaning to do for a bit. I went over to the Planned Parenthood center in the Bronx. Decided I wanted to take some photos of the place.

My Little Project
It wasn’t for any big reason, honestly. I’ve been trying to just sort of… document spots around my area. Places you hear about, places that are part of the neighborhood fabric. This center, well, it comes up, you know? I figured I should just go see it, get a visual myself. See what the building actually looks like, standing there on the street. Felt like something worth capturing, just as part of the local scene.
The Trip and the Pictures
Getting there was easy enough, just hopped on the usual train line. Found the building without any trouble. First thing I did was just stand across the street for a minute. Took it in. It’s just a building, right? But you know it’s more than bricks and windows for a lot of people. Needed to figure out the best way to shoot it without being weird.
So, I started taking some pictures. Focused on:
- The sign mostly, wanted that clear.
- The front of the building, the entrance area.
- Tried a few wider shots too, showing how it sits on the block.
Tried to be respectful, obviously. Didn’t hang around too long in one spot, kept my distance. Saw people going in and out, just regular folks going about their day. Made sure not to get anyone in the shots – felt super important to respect their privacy. My focus was just the building itself, its structure, the signs. Pretty straightforward, really. Walked around a little, maybe found one or two different angles down the street. The weather wasn’t amazing, kind of grey, but the photos turned out okay for what I wanted.
Wrapping Up
After maybe fifteen, twenty minutes, felt like I had what I needed. Packed my camera back in my bag and headed back to the subway station. Walking away, it felt kind of reflective. It’s just a place providing services, sitting there in the Bronx. Does its job. Looking at the photos later on my computer, they’re nothing artsy. Just pictures of a building. But they show it’s there. That was the point, I guess. Just to have a record, for myself.
