Okay, so yesterday I was totally bored out of my mind. Like, seriously, nothing to do. I scrolled through my phone for, I don’t know, maybe an hour? Just hitting refresh on everything. Then it hit me: I should read something! But… what?

First thing I did was hit up Google. I typed in “what to read when bored.” Super original, right? Got a bunch of lists, mostly clickbait-y stuff. Skipped past those pretty quick.
Then I remembered my friend Sarah. She’s like, a book MACHINE.
I texted her: “Hey! Super bored. Need a book rec. Something FUN.”
She replied almost instantly (that’s Sarah for you): “OMG read ‘The House in the Cerulean Sea’ by T.J. Klune. It’s like a warm hug in book form.”
Never heard of it. But I trust Sarah’s taste. I hopped over to Amazon and downloaded the sample. Started reading…and… whoa.

- The writing style was super easy to get into. Not all fancy-pants and complicated.
- The characters were really weird and lovable. Like, REALLY lovable.
- The story itself was just… heartwarming. Which is exactly what I needed.
I ended up buying the whole book right then and there. Stayed up way too late reading it. No regrets. It totally pulled me out of my boredom funk. Actually, it was so good, I finished it this morning!
Now I’m thinking, “Okay, what NEXT?” Texting Sarah again in 3…2…1…
So, yeah, that’s my story. If you’re bored, try “The House in the Cerulean Sea.” Seriously, it works.
Also, pro-tip: have a friend who’s a bookworm. They’re basically walking libraries.
Next mission: find a bookstore near me and actually browse the shelves instead of just relying on Sarah and Amazon. That’s the plan for tomorrow!
