Getting Curious About Attraction Tests
So I was scrolling through social media yesterday and saw someone mention a “sexuality quiz” they took. Got me thinking, man, what kinds of these quizzes even exist? I figured tons of folks must get curious about themselves, just like me sometimes. Wanted to actually find out what the main types were beyond just random Buzzfeed stuff.

Actually Starting My Search
Opened up my laptop, typed something dumb like “sexuality attraction types test” into Google. Felt a bit awkward typing it, ngl! Was immediately hit with way more results than I expected. Most looked either super cheesy or weirdly scientific. Took me a hot minute to figure out where to even start clicking.
Diving In & Trying Them Out
Said “screw it” and just started trying a bunch. Here’s the main kinds I bumped into:
- The “Where You Fall” Picture Quiz: Found one with a spectrum slider thing. Had to drag a little marker between pictures showing guys, girls, both, neither. Questions were like “Who catches your eye more?” based on pics. Finished it feeling kinda… meh? Like, pics rarely tell the whole story, right?
- The Questionnaire Kind (Super Long!): Found another one buried in some forum. So many questions. Like, pages full! Stuff like “Have you ever felt drawn to someone regardless of their gender?” and “Rate your fantasies from 1 to 10”. Took ages. Got bored halfway through and almost quit. Felt more thoughtful than the pictures, but damn, it was a slog.
- The “Choose Your Own Adventure” Style: This was kinda fun! It gave little scenarios like “Imagine you’re at a party. Who would you approach first?” and then gave you options. Depending what you picked, it sent you down different paths. More like a game, less like homework. Liked this one more than expected.
- The Super Short & Snappy Test: Found one that was literally like 10 questions. Super basic, like “Do you prefer men, women, both, or neither?” Felt way too blunt. Finished in like 30 seconds. Results basically just gave me a label without much nuance. Felt kinda cheap.
- The One Focusing on Feelings, Not Just Acts: This felt deeper. Instead of “Who did you date?” or “Who do you wanna sleep with?”, it asked stuff like “What qualities make you feel connected?” or “How important is emotional intimacy for attraction?”. Really made me think more about why I feel drawn to people, not just who. Harder to answer quickly, but more meaningful I reckon.
What Actually Happened & Final Thoughts
Spent the whole afternoon on this rabbit hole. Clicked, answered, got frustrated, got bored, got surprised. My browser had like 12 tabs open, each with a different test. Felt like I was studying for a weird exam about myself!
Here’s the big takeaway after all that clicking:
- None gave me a perfect “aha!” moment. Some were way too vague, others felt too boxed-in.
- The longer ones about feelings took more work but scratched an itch the quick quizzes didn’t.
- Some were clearly just for fun, others tried to be serious but maybe missed the mark.
- Taking them back-to-back showed me they all measure slightly different angles of attraction.
So yeah, those 5 types popped up the most. Learned they’re just tools, starting points really. They got me reflecting, but they ain’t the final word. Feels good to have explored it hands-on though! Probably gonna think more about that feelings one later.
