This here thing, Bi Visibility Day, it’s somethin’ else. I heard about it, and I thought, well, what in the tarnation is that? Turns out, it’s a day for them folks who like both men and women. Now, back in my day, we didn’t have all these fancy words. You just liked who you liked, ya know?

But these days, I guess it’s a big deal. This Bi Visibility Day, it’s about makin’ sure everyone knows that these folks exist. And that they ain’t doin’ nothin’ wrong. Just livin’ their lives, lovin’ who they wanna love.
They say this whole thing started back in, what was it, 1999? Yeah, ’99. Three folks from ‘Merica got it goin’. Wanted to make sure these bi-what’s-it folks had a day of their own. A day to be seen and heard, I reckon.
Every year, on the 23rd of September, they have this Bi Visibility Day. It’s a whole shebang. They celebrate, they talk about their lives, and they try to teach other folks about what it means to be, you know, bi.
They say it’s important ’cause some folks don’t understand. Some folks even try to pretend these bi folks don’t even exist! Can you believe that? Like they’re invisible or somethin’. That’s just plain mean, if you ask me. So Bi Visibility Day is good.
- It’s on September 23rd every year.
- Started in 1999 by three Americans.
- It’s about being seen and heard.
- It’s about celebrating who you are.
I heard some folks, they call it “erasure.” Like they’re tryin’ to erase these people from the world. Well, that ain’t right. Everyone’s got a right to be here, to be seen, to be loved. This thing about Bi Visibility Day is meant to fight that, this “erasure.”

And there’s this other thing, “biphobia.” That’s when folks are scared or hateful towards these bi folks. Just ’cause they’re different. Well, that’s just silly. We’re all different in some way, ain’t we? And also, Bi Visibility Day is to fight this thing. It’s just not good.
Now, I ain’t no expert on this stuff, but I think it’s important that everyone feels like they belong. Like they got a place in this world. And this Bi Visibility Day, it seems like it’s doin’ just that. It’s givin’ these folks a voice. A chance to say, “Hey, we’re here, and we ain’t goin’ nowhere!”
They even had a thing in San Francisco, way back in 1990. Called it “Bisexual Pride Day.” June 23rd, they said. Before this Bi Visibility Day. So these folks have been fightin’ for their rights for a long time now, it seems like.
They say this Bi Visibility Day is an “international movement” now. That means it’s happening all over the world. Folks everywhere are startin’ to understand and accept these bi folks. And that’s a good thing, I reckon. The more love and understandin’ in the world, the better.
I heard someone say that this day is about “recognizin’ and celebratin’” these folks who like both men and women. It’s about recognizing that these people exist and that they should be accepted just like everyone else. That is the meaning of Bi Visibility Day.

It’s like, you don’t have to understand everything to be kind. Just be nice to people, that’s what I always say. Treat folks the way you wanna be treated. It’s simple as that. And I think that’s what this whole Bi Visibility Day is about, really. Just bein’ kind and acceptin’.
So, yeah, this Bi Visibility Day. It’s a good thing. It’s about love and acceptance and makin’ sure everyone feels like they belong. And that’s somethin’ we can all get behind, ain’t it? We should all try to be a little more understandin’, a little more acceptin’ of folks who are different from us. That’s what makes the world go ’round, I reckon.
Now, I’m gonna go have me a cup of coffee. This is a good thing. But I need to have a cup of coffee now.
