The Actual Bashing Part
Got back home, dumped ’em out. And then the fun part started. Unwrapping. Seriously, whoever designed these tiny, sticky wrappers needs to answer for their crimes. Took way longer than it should have. My fingers were getting sticky already. Ended up with a big, colorful pile of naked candies.
Okay, plan was to crush ’em. Seemed like the most straightforward way to ‘bash’ them. Tried a few methods. Best one was putting a handful into a heavy-duty ziplock bag. Double-bagged it, just in case. Threw a kitchen towel over it for good measure – didn’t want candy shrapnel flying everywhere. Then I just grabbed my trusty rolling pin and went to town on it. Whack! Whack! Whack! Made a decent noise, felt kinda satisfying smashing ’em up.

What Came Out of It
I sorted the crushed bits roughly by color. Looked kinda cool, like tiny piles of gems. What to do with it? Sprinkled some of the finer dust onto some plain vanilla ice cream I had in the freezer. Honestly? Not half bad. Gave it a pop of flavor and a weird little crunch. The watermelon dust was probably the winner.
Also tried melting some of the bigger pieces. Lined a baking sheet with parchment paper, spread out some chunks, and stuck it in the oven on low heat. Watched them melt down into these flat, glassy discs. Pulled ’em out, let them cool completely. They hardened up again. Snapped them into pointy shards. Looked kinda artsy, I guess? Could probably stick ’em on a cake or something for decoration. But getting them off the parchment paper perfectly clean was tricky. Still sticky business.
Final Thoughts
So, that was the grand Jolly Rancher Fruity Bash. It was definitely an activity. Made a sticky mess, spent too long unwrapping, hammered some candy. Was it life-changing? Nah. Was it a way to kill an afternoon and try something different? Sure. The crushed candy powder is probably the most useful result. The melted stuff is more for looks.
Would I recommend it? Eh, maybe if you’re bored or got a load of Jolly Ranchers lying around you don’t wanna just eat. Just be ready for the stickiness. And the unwrapping. Definitely the unwrapping.
