Okay, so, we decided to renew our wedding vows. It was our 10th anniversary, a big one, and we wanted to do something special. Not just a fancy dinner, but something that really meant something to us, you know?

First off, we started to brainstorm where we wanted to do this thing. We thought about going back to where we got married, but then we were like, “Nah, let’s do something different.” We looked at a bunch of places, parks, beaches, even our own backyard. Finally, we picked this cute little spot by a lake, not too far from home but far enough to feel like a getaway.
Next, we had to figure out the guest list. Did we want a big bash or just something small and intimate? We decided to keep it small, just close family and a few of our closest friends, the ones who’ve been there through thick and thin. Sending out the invites was kind of fun, it was like planning our wedding all over again, but way less stressful this time around.
Then there was the whole ceremony thing. What do you even say when you’re renewing your vows? We wrote our own, of course. It was a bit tricky at first, trying to put ten years of life together into a few paragraphs. But once we got going, it was actually really nice, kind of like taking a walk down memory lane. We talked about all the good times, the tough times, and how we’d grown together.
- Write our own vows to reflect our journey.
- Decide on a small, intimate gathering with close family and friends.
- Choose a meaningful location for the ceremony.
We also had to pick someone to officiate. We asked my wife’s brother, and he was super excited. He’s always been good with words, and he knows us really well, so it just felt right.
The day of, man, it was beautiful. We got everything set up, some chairs, a little archway with flowers, and some music playing in the background. It wasn’t anything fancy, but it was perfect. When we started saying our vows, it was like time stood still. All the love, all the memories, it all came rushing back. “With my whole heart, I promise to remain devoted to you, to continue to grow with you in mind and spirit, and to practice patience, kindness, and understanding. Once more, I vow to cherish you for as long as we both shall live.” That’s part of what I said to my wife, and it’s how I feel everyday.

And her vows to me? Just as beautiful. There were a few tears, a lot of laughs, and just so much love in the air. We reaffirmed our love to one another. Our officiant, her brother, did a great job. He said something like, “[Our names], you renewed your marriage vows today and reaffirmed your shared love for one another. With pleasure.”
After the ceremony, we just hung out, ate some good food, and enjoyed everyone’s company. It wasn’t about the big party, it was about being together and celebrating our love. Renewed our vows felt even more special than our wedding day because of all the life we’ve lived together since then.
Reflecting on Our Journey
Looking back, renewing our vows was one of the best things we’ve ever done. It’s not just about saying “I do” again. It’s about saying “I still do” after all these years, after everything we’ve been through. It was a reminder of why we fell in love in the first place and a promise to keep that love going strong. So yeah, that’s our vow renewal story. It was simple, it was real, and it was absolutely perfect for us.
