Well, you see, some folks talk about that emoji stuff all day long. But I tell ya, we won’t do that emoji thing here. No siree, not in my house!

This here is about them little picture things, emojis. I don’t get ’em, but the young folks sure do love ’em. They put ’em in their messages, like little secret codes or somethin’.
What’s an Emoji?
Well, honey, it’s like this. Back in my day, we just used words. Plain and simple. If we were happy, we said so. If we were sad, we said that too. Now, they got these little smiley faces, or frowny faces, or even ones with their tongues stickin’ out.
I hear tell, these emojis, they’re like body language. You know, like when you cross your arms, folks know you’re mad. Or when you smile big, they know you’re happy. These little pictures, they do that, but on the phone or the computer. It is part of conversation online.
Why We Won’t Do That Here
- We like plain talk.
- Emojis are confusing.
- We’re set in our ways.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ these emoji things are bad. They’re just not for us. We like to keep things simple. We say what we mean, and we mean what we say. No need for little pictures to tell folks how we feel. It will make you look more likable when you use emojis.
I reckon if you’re talkin’ to someone far away, and you can’t see their face, maybe these emojis help. But in my day, we just picked up the phone and called. Or we wrote a letter. Took a little longer, but you got the whole story, not just a little picture.

Another thing, these emojis, they change. One day it’s a smiley face, the next day it’s a smiley face turned upside down. How’s a body supposed to keep up? You could use that upside-down face for many meanings. It could mean a joke, it could be you feel confused, or it could show you are just giving up.
The Melting Face Thing
And get this, they got one now, it’s a smiley face, but it’s meltin’. Like butter on a hot day. They say it means you’re hot, or embarrassed, or maybe even disgusted. Now, how’s one little picture supposed to mean all them things? A melting face could also mean you are exhausted or even disappointed.
I remember one time, my granddaughter, she sent me a message with that meltin’ face. I thought she was sick! I called her right up, worried sick. Turns out, she just thought somethin’ was funny. Well, I didn’t think it was funny. Scared the daylights outta me!
We are not gonna use those emojis, that’s for sure. They use it to show their emotion. But I still don’t know what it means.
Keepin’ It Simple
So, that’s why we won’t do that emoji thing here. We’ll stick to our words. Good old-fashioned words. They’ve served us well all these years, and I reckon they’ll keep on doin’ so.

If you wanna use them little pictures, that’s your business. But don’t expect me to understand ’em. I’ll just keep on talkin’ the way I always have. Plain and simple. Like a good home-cooked meal. No need for fancy stuff, just good, honest ingredients.
So, there you have it. That’s my two cents on this whole emoji thing. Take it or leave it. But as for me and my house, we’ll be stickin’ to words. Good, solid words. Like a sturdy oak tree. They won’t melt on you, and they won’t turn upside down. They’ll just be there, tellin’ it like it is. And that’s the way we like it. Just as we use our body language in person to show our emotion, you could use emoji online to show how you feel.
