Alright, let me tell you about this little project I got myself into the other day. It started pretty randomly, actually. I was driving through Wilkes-Barre, just running some errands, you know? And I passed by the Planned Parenthood medical center building. It’s not like it’s super remarkable architecture or anything, but it just kinda stuck in my head.

Later that evening, I got curious. I thought, “Huh, I wonder what that place actually looks like up close, just the building itself.” Sometimes I like to just look at pictures of local spots, see how they fit into the neighborhood, that sort of thing. So, I figured, easy peasy, I’ll just look up some photos online.
My Search Kicks Off
First thing I did was the obvious: opened up my browser and typed in “planned parenthood wilkes barre medical center photos”. Simple enough, right? Well, kinda.
What I got back was… interesting. Lots of news articles, you bet. Maps, directions, logos, screenshots of websites. But actual, clear photos of just the building? Like, if you were just standing across the street taking a picture? Surprisingly hard to find.
- Google Images: Showed mostly news thumbnails, some generic stock photos related to healthcare, but very few straightforward shots of that specific building.
- Local News Sites: Searched their archives. Again, plenty of articles mentioning the place, often with pictures related to events or news stories happening near it or about it, but not just plain photos of it.
- Social Media: Tried looking at location tags. Found some check-ins, but people usually post selfies or pictures of their friends, not the building exterior.
It wasn’t like there were zero photos, but they were often from a weird angle, or partly obscured, or clearly taken during some kind of event or news coverage. Not just a simple, neutral picture of the place on a regular day.
What I Kind of Realized
After maybe 20 minutes of clicking around, I sort of gave up. It wasn’t that important, just a passing curiosity. But it did make me think. It’s funny how some places, even though they’re just buildings, become so much more than that because of what they represent or the discussions around them.

Maybe people just don’t think to take pictures of it like they would, say, the courthouse or a historic theater? Or maybe folks are hesitant, worried about why someone might want a picture. Who knows.
Anyway, that was my little adventure trying to find photos of the Planned Parenthood building in Wilkes-Barre. Didn’t quite get what I was looking for, but it was a reminder that sometimes the simplest things online aren’t always so simple to find. Just a building, but finding a picture? Whole different story. Ended up just moving on to other things. That’s how it goes sometimes.
