Alright folks, let me tell you about my little experiment with “mirror on the wall quotes.” I got this bee in my bonnet to try and whip up some cool visuals, you know, the kind you see floating around on Pinterest and Insta.

First off, I started by just Googling my brains out. I wanted to see what kind of quotes were already out there. I figured, why reinvent the wheel, right? I spent a solid hour just scrolling and saving quotes that resonated with me. Stuff that was motivational, a little bit sassy, or just plain funny.
Next up, the design. This is where things got a little tricky. I’m no graphic designer, that’s for sure. I messed around with Canva for what felt like forever. Tried a bunch of different fonts, colors, and backgrounds. I wanted something clean and modern, but also something that popped. I played around with adding little graphics, like stars and hearts, but eventually decided that less is more.
Then came the mirror part. I actually tried writing directly on a mirror with those chalk markers. BIG mistake. It looked terrible. Smudged everywhere, and the handwriting? Let’s just say my doctor’s handwriting is more legible. So, I ditched that idea real quick.
Instead, I decided to print out the quotes I designed in Canva and tape them onto the mirror. Classy, I know. But hey, it worked! I used some clear tape so you could barely see it. I even tried printing them on vellum paper to give it a softer, more ethereal look. That was a nice touch, I gotta say.
After that, I started staging things. I messed around with lighting, adding plants, and other little knick-knacks to make the mirror look pretty. Snapped a bunch of photos from different angles. Took me a good hour to get a few shots I was happy with.

The last step was editing. I used Snapseed on my phone to tweak the brightness, contrast, and saturation. Nothing too crazy, just enough to make the photos pop. I added a subtle filter to give them a cohesive look.
And that’s it! A simple little project that took way longer than I thought it would. But hey, I learned a few things along the way. Mostly that I’m not a graphic designer or a photographer, but I can still have fun trying!
- Find your quotes. Google is your friend.
- Keep the design simple. Less is more.
- Don’t write directly on the mirror. Trust me.
- Experiment with staging and lighting. It makes a difference.
- Don’t be afraid to tweak your photos. A little editing goes a long way.
Hope you enjoyed my little adventure! Let me know if you try it out yourself. I’d love to see what you come up with.
