Okay, here’s my experience with an undercut and long hair:

So, I’ve always been a long-hair kind of guy. But lately, I’ve been seeing this undercut style pop up everywhere, and I gotta say, it looked pretty cool. I was on the fence for a while, you know? Undercuts were always something I saw on people with short hair. I mean, could I even pull it off with my long locks?
After a lot of back and forth, I finally decided, “Screw it, let’s do it.” I booked an appointment with my usual barber, Sarah. She’s awesome, by the way. I showed her some pictures I’d saved on my phone. “You sure about this?” she asked, raising an eyebrow. I nodded, maybe a little less confidently than before.
Getting the Cut
- First thing, she sectioned off the top part of my hair, you know, the long part. She used those little clips to keep it out of the way.
- Then, she took out the clippers. That buzzing sound always makes me a bit nervous, haha. She started with the sides, working her way around.
- Next, she moved to the back. She asked me a couple of times how high I wanted the undercut to go. I told her to keep it relatively low for the first time, just to be safe.
- After she finished with the clippers, she trimmed up the edges with scissors, making sure everything was nice and blended.
- Finally, she took out the clips, letting my long hair fall over the freshly shaved parts.
Looking in the mirror, I was pretty stoked! It looked way better than I expected. The contrast between the long hair on top and the short sides and back was really striking. It felt lighter, too, which was a nice bonus, especially with summer coming up.
Styling
Styling it has been pretty easy. Most days, I just let my hair air dry. Sometimes, I’ll use a bit of sea salt spray to give it some texture. When I want to look a bit more put together, I’ll tie the top part up in a man bun or a ponytail. That really shows off the undercut. I can even braid the top part of my hair to show off the undercut.
Overall, I’m really happy I went for it. It’s a fun change, and it’s surprisingly versatile. If you’re thinking about getting an undercut with long hair, I say go for it! Just make sure you go to a barber you trust, and don’t be afraid to experiment with different styles.
