Today, I wanna talk about something I’ve been messing around with lately – mustache styles. Yeah, you heard that right. I’ve been trying out different looks with my facial hair, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride.
So, I started thinking, “What kind of mustache would suit me?” I mean, I’ve got a pretty average face, nothing too crazy. But I wanted to see if I could change things up a bit, you know? I’ve got kinda thin lips, and a buddy told me a fuller mustache might balance that out. Sounded like a plan to me.
First, I tried growing out a Chevron. It’s that classic, thick one that goes straight across your upper lip. I let it grow for a few weeks, trimming it to keep it neat. It wasn’t bad, but I felt like it was a bit too… standard? I don’t know, it just didn’t feel like “me.”
- Growing the Chevron: This took about three weeks. I used a trimmer to keep it even and made sure it didn’t go over my lip too much.
- The Look: It was okay. Thick, full, but a bit boring for my taste.
Next up, I went for something a little more out there – the Horseshoe. It’s like the Chevron but with these long ends that go down the sides of your mouth. I thought, “Why not?” It was definitely a statement. People noticed, that’s for sure. But I think my face is a little too round for it. It made me look like a cartoon character or something.
- Transitioning to Horseshoe: I just let the ends of the Chevron grow out. Took another two weeks to get them long enough.
- The Look: Bold, for sure. But it didn’t really match my face shape. Felt a bit too much like a costume.
After that, I decided to try something more… I don’t know, hipster-ish? I shaved off the Horseshoe and went for a natural mustache, but with a bit of a twist. I kept it trimmed but let it be a little thicker in the middle. I think this one actually worked pretty well. It added a bit of volume to my upper lip area like my buddy suggested, without being too over the top. The girlfriend liked it, so that’s a plus.
- Shaping the Hipster: I shaved off the Horseshoe completely and started fresh. Kept it trimmed but let it grow a bit thicker in the middle.
- The Look: More my style. It looked natural but still had some personality. And yeah, it did make my lips look a bit fuller.
My Final Take
So, after all that experimenting, I think I’m gonna stick with the modified natural/hipster thing for a while. It’s a good balance of looking like I care about my appearance without trying too hard. Plus, it seems to suit my face the best. I learned that a mustache can really change your look, even if it’s just a subtle change. It’s all about finding what works for you and makes you feel good.
