Hey there, folks! Let’s talk ’bout this super straight pride flag thing. I hear all the young people talkin’ ’bout it, and it’s got me scratchin’ my head a bit. Some folks say it’s a good thing, some folks say it’s a bad thing. I’m here to tell you what I think, plain and simple, just like I always do.
So, this whole “super straight” thing, it started up on that TikTok thing. You know, where all them kids make them little videos. Then it went to other places, like that Reddit and that 4chan. Spread like wildfire, I tell ya. Sounds like a bunch of young’uns got all riled up, and next thing you know, it’s all over the internet.
Now, I seen lots of flags in my time. This one I heard about, the rainbow one, they say it’s for them LGBTQ folks. That stands for, uh, lesbian, and gay, and… well, a bunch of other things. They say it’s ’bout bein’ proud of who you are, no matter who you love. That’s all well and good, I reckon. Everyone deserves to be happy and not feel ashamed of themselves.
This rainbow flag, it’s got all sorts of colors. Reminds me of a quilt my grandma used to make. They say it’s supposed to be for everyone, all them different folks. They even added some new colors to it, they call it the Progress Pride Flag. It has black and brown, I hear, for people of color. And a light blue and pink, for the, uh, transgender folks. They even got a purple circle now, for the, uh, intersex people. Trying to include everyone, I guess.
But this super straight pride flag, that’s a different story, it seems like. It is a new thing and some people say they are super straight. Some folks think it’s mean to those other folks, the ones with the rainbow flag. They say it’s like sayin’ “we’re better than you” or somethin’ like that. I don’t know ’bout all that, but it don’t sound very nice to me. Seems like it’s causin’ a lot of fuss and hurtin’ people’s feelings.
There’s another flag, too. They call it the Straight Ally Flag. Now, this one is supposed to be for folks who ain’t LGBTQ themselves, but they support ’em. They’re like friends and family who stand up for ’em and say, “Hey, we love you just the way you are.” That’s a good thing, I think. We all need folks in our corner, supportin’ us and bein’ kind. This flag, it ain’t meant to be mean to nobody.
I’ve seen a lot in my years, and one thing I know for sure is that everyone deserves respect. It don’t matter what color your skin is, or who you love, or what flag you fly. We’re all just people, tryin’ to make our way in this world. We ought to be kind to each other, help each other out, and not try to tear each other down. This super straight thing, it just don’t make much sense to me.

- Help each other out.
- Don’t be mean.
That’s all I got to say ’bout that. Just my two cents. This super straight pride flag thing is a mess, if you ask me. We should all just try to get along and be nice to each other. That’s what my mama always told me, and it’s still good advice today. You treat people how you wanna be treated. It’s as simple as that. These flags, they just seem to be dividin’ folks instead of bringin’ ’em together. And that ain’t right, no sir.
I remember a time when folks just lived their lives and didn’t worry so much ’bout these things. We were all neighbors, helpin’ each other out, no matter what. We need to get back to that, I reckon. Forget all these labels and just be good to each other. So many people want to be super straight or something else, but we are all people, just remember that. That super straight pride flag, it just seems like another way to divide folks. And we got enough of that already, don’t we?
Life’s too short to be hatin’ on each other. We all got our own struggles, our own worries. We need to lift each other up, not push each other down. I don’t know who made that super straight pride flag, but I hope they think long and hard about what they’re doin’.
This old lady’s seen enough fightin’ in her time. We need more love in this world, not more hate. Plain and simple. Just be good to each other. That is the only super thing we need.
