Felt pretty awful after my procedure last week. Doctor gave me antibiotics to prevent infection, made sense at the time. But wow, the side effects hit hard maybe two days in.

Woke up feeling super queasy. Like that awful churning feeling deep in your gut. Tried eating my usual breakfast toast – big mistake. Barely finished chewing before rushing to the bathroom. Violent vomiting. It was rough. Just stood there leaning over the sink afterward, shaky and sweaty.
What Actually Happened
Couldn’t figure out why this was happening. Knew antibiotics sometimes mess with your stomach, but this felt extreme. Felt weak all day, curled up on the sofa. Couldn’t even think about food without feeling sick again.
- First thing I tried: Taking the pill after a huge meal. Didn’t help. Still puked.
- Next try: Drinking milk with it because someone online said it coats the stomach. Also useless.
- Feeling desperate: Skipped a dose. Felt guilty right away, worried about getting an infection.
What Finally Worked (Sort Of)
Called the clinic feeling pretty pathetic. Nurse was surprisingly understanding. Her tips:
- Switch timing: Take the pill right before sleeping, so I’d hopefully sleep through the worst nausea. Needed to set an alarm for it.
- Plain food ONLY: Ate nothing but crackers, plain rice, and bananas for two days straight. Boring but safe.
- Water: Kept sipping tiny amounts constantly. Big gulps triggered vomiting.
- Stayed upright: Made sure not to lie flat for at least 30 minutes after taking the pill.
Biggest difference came from probiotics. Nurse suggested trying yogurt. Dug through the fridge, found a plain one. Ate small spoonfuls slowly. Body didn’t reject it! Started eating yogurt twice a day, morning and night, a good two hours before or after the antibiotic. Felt dumb for not realizing sooner that the meds were wiping out my gut bacteria.
Where Things Stand Now
Still not 100%. Still feel queasy if I push it. Last pill is tomorrow morning. Planning a victory nap afterwards. Learned antibiotics can really mess you up, especially when your body is already recovering. Important stuff:

- Listen to your body, don’t force food if it rebels.
- Ask the clinic stuff when things get scary.
- Probiotics seem like magic for antibiotic guts.
Mostly? Can’t wait to finish these pills and feel properly human again. It’s been a miserable few days. You definitely need patience.
