So I wanted to share my notes from trying out that legs-over-shoulders position yesterday. Just me and the wife decided to give it a shot after seeing it mentioned online.

First Attempt Was Pure Comedy
Started with me lying flat on the bed thinking this would be easy. She swung her leg up near my ear like we were wrestling – bam! – my nose got crushed by her thigh. Total fail. Had to stop ’cause we both couldn’t stop laughing at how ridiculous we looked.
Second Round Adjustments
Tried sitting up against the headboard this time. She climbed on facing me while I grabbed under her knees. I hoisted her legs up slowly… nope! Heard her gasp when her calves smacked my shoulders too hard. We learned real quick:
- Pillows under her butt saved our backs
- Had to scoot way down the bed for height
- Shortened strokes until we got rhythm
What Actually Worked
Took three tries to nail it. Our final setup looked like this:
- Piled two pillows lengthwise against the wall
- I sat straight against them, knees bent
- She backed into my lap slow while lifting one leg
- Palmed her hips to lift her – WAY easier than pulling legs!
- Gradually folded both legs over my shoulders once she was stable
Key realization? Your partner’s gotta control the leg movement herself! When I tried forcing her knees up earlier, it strained everything. Letting her bend and place her own calves across my shoulders made all the difference.
Final Thoughts After Practice
- Expect awkwardness – pillows will fly everywhere first few tries
- Smaller partners = stack more cushions under you
- Tucking knees closer to chest avoids back cramps
- Keep sessions short until your legs stop shaking
Honestly? Once we stopped fighting the pose and laughed through the fails, it became our new favorite. Takes patience though – felt like assembling IKEA furniture blindfolded at first!
