Okay, so last weekend, I finally got around to watching “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” I know, I know, it’s a classic, but I’d just never seen it. But the thing that really got me hooked was this character, Riff Raff. Man, that guy was something else.

First off, I had heard about this movie being a cult classic, so I went in with some expectations. You know, people talking about it being this wild, participatory thing. And boy, did it deliver! The whole thing kicked off, and I was just glued to the screen. This Riff Raff guy, played by Richard O’Brien, who also co-wrote the thing, he’s like the creepy handyman, and he’s there right from the start, lurking around.
- Getting into Character: I didn’t dress up this time, but I totally get why people do. It’s like the movie invites you to be part of the madness.
So, the story goes on, and these two normal folks, Brad and Janet, they end up at this crazy castle. That’s where we really start seeing more of Riff Raff. He’s working for this mad scientist, Frank-N-Furter, and he’s always there, doing his weird stuff, getting ready for whatever bizarre experiment is coming next. There’s this one scene where he’s helping bring this creation, Rocky, to life. You gotta see it to believe it.
- Watching the Chaos: I kept waiting to see what Riff Raff would do next. He’s got this eerie presence, and his look, with the hunchback and all, it’s just perfect.
As the movie progresses, I started to realize there’s more to Riff Raff than just being a servant. I won’t spoil the ending, but let’s just say he’s got his own agenda. And that final scene? I was on the edge of my seat! The whole castle is about to blast off like a rocket, and Riff Raff is right there in the middle of it all.
- Discovering the Twist: I was totally into the story by this point, and Riff Raff’s role in the climax was mind-blowing. No spoilers, but it’s wild!
My Takeaway
Honestly, watching “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” was an experience. And Riff Raff, he’s a huge part of what made it so memorable. The guy’s a total scene-stealer. I can see why there are “Shadow Casts” who act out the whole movie along with the film. It makes you want to jump in and be part of the story. I even heard about this actor, Kristian Lavercombe, who’s famous for playing Riff Raff on stage. Apparently, he’s amazing. I gotta check out some of his performances.
So yeah, that was my weekend adventure into the world of “Rocky Horror.” Riff Raff, you freaky, fascinating character, you’ve definitely made a fan out of me. And to anyone who hasn’t seen the movie yet, do yourself a favor and watch it. But be warned, you might find yourself wanting to do the Time Warp again and again!
