Okay, here we go, let me tell you about my little adventure getting a rib cage tattoo.

So, I’ve always wanted a tattoo, you know? Something meaningful, something cool. I finally decided, “Screw it, let’s do it!” And what did I choose? A rib cage tattoo. Yeah, I know, right on the ribs. People told me it would hurt like hell, but I’m stubborn as a mule.
Finding the Design
First things first, I needed a design. I spent hours, days even, scrolling through pictures online. Flowers, animals, quotes – you name it, I looked at it. I even saw this cute shark, which made me think of the ocean’s grace. That was from some artist named Jules, but I wanted something more. There was also this lotus flower design I saw that I liked, but it wasn’t quite me, you know? I wanted something unique, something that screamed “me.” After a long time searching, I finally found a design I liked that combined some elements of the lotus and the shark. It was perfect!
The Tattoo Day
Appointment day! I was so nervous, my stomach was doing flips. I walked into the shop, and the smell of the ink hit me immediately. It was a mix of excitement and pure terror. I met the artist, a cool guy named Mark, and showed him the design. He looked at it for a minute and said, “Alright, let’s make this happen!”
He prepped the area, shaved a little patch on my side (ticklish, by the way), and then it was showtime. He started with the outline, and honestly? It wasn’t as bad as I expected. More like a scratching feeling. But then he started shading, and oh boy. That’s when the real fun began.
The Pain
- The Outline: Not too bad, like a cat scratch.
- The Shading: Okay, this is where it gets real. Imagine a tiny, angry bee stinging you repeatedly.
- Near the Bone: Oh. My. God. This felt like he was tattooing my actual skeleton.
I won’t lie, there were moments when I wanted to tap out. I gripped the table, took deep breaths, and tried to think about anything but the needle digging into my ribs. Mark was great, though. He kept checking on me, making sure I was okay. We took a few breaks, which definitely helped.

The Result
After what felt like an eternity (but was probably about 3 hours), it was done. I looked in the mirror, and there it was, my rib cage tattoo. It was a little red and swollen, but it looked amazing! All the pain, all the nerves, it was all worth it. I finally had my tattoo, and it was even better than I imagined.
So, that’s my story. Getting a rib cage tattoo was definitely an experience. It hurt, yeah, but I love it. It’s a reminder to be brave, to be bold, and to do the things that scare you. Plus, it looks pretty damn cool, if I do say so myself!
