Okay, folks, let’s dive into my little adventure with Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare and those awesome apocalyptic horses.

So, I fired up my old console, ready to get back into the zombie-infested Wild West. I remembered those special horses – War, Famine, Pestilence, and Death – and I was determined to snag ’em all. I mean, who wouldn’t want a flaming horse, right?
Finding the Horses of the Apocalypse
First things first, I had to actually find these beasts. I remembered they weren’t just roaming around everywhere. They have specific spawn points, and it can be a bit random.
- War: This fiery steed was my first target. I spent a good chunk of time riding around the areas I vaguely remembered, mostly New Austin, Cholla Springs area. And yep, after some searching – boom! – there it was, blazing away. Taming it was a bit of a rodeo, but nothing too crazy. Hold on tight, use the stick, and keep your balance!
Getting War early is useful, becouse it can set zombies on fire.
- Famine: I was told to ride in Tall Trees, Diez Coronas area. Sure enough, with a little patience (and a lot of zombie dodging), I spotted the skeletal-looking Famine. It will appear after you clear out a town. Same deal as War – hop on, hold tight, and don’t get bucked off.
Famine has infinite stamina.
- Pestilence: Now, I remember that Pestilence can be found in West Elizabeth, especially in the swampy areas.I rode all around, then I finally caught sight of the sickly-looking horse. I tamed the horse and got ready for find the next one.
Pestilence is highly resistant to damage. It will also attract zombies from further away than normal.

- Death: As I recall,Death is awarded to the player for completing the Undead Nightmare storyline. After the long main story line,I finally completed the last mission “On a Pale Horse”. After the final cutscene, Death will be added to your inventory.
Death makes the heads of the zombies explode on contact.
Taming Tips and Tricks
Honestly, taming these horses isn’t rocket science. It’s the standard Red Dead horse-breaking minigame. The main thing is to be persistent. Keep trying, and don’t get discouraged if you get thrown off a few times. It happens to the best of us. And watch out for zombies while you’re at it! Nothing worse than getting tackled by a horde while you’re trying to tame a horse.
Enjoying the Apocalypse
Once I had all four horses, it was just pure, unadulterated fun. Riding around on a flaming horse, setting zombies ablaze? Awesome. Charging through hordes with Death, watching heads explode? You bet. It really adds a whole new level of craziness to the game, and I loved every minute of it.
So, yeah, that was my little journey to capture the Horses of the Apocalypse. It took some time, some patience, and a whole lot of zombie slaying, but it was totally worth it. If you’re looking for a fun challenge in Undead Nightmare, I highly recommend giving it a shot!
